The term "Dinosaur Fossils" is made up by combining two Greek words: Deinos, meaning "terrible" and Sauros, meaning "lizard;" with the Latin word Fossilis, meaning "dug up." This means that the term “dinosaur fossil” literally means the "great lizard dug up."
