Fluxes, in this context, are elements in the urban environment other than buildings. For example, signs, electronic billboards, canopies, sales racks and, although not referred to as flux, temporary element established during construction of buildings. Some of the places, where urban flux has dominated the environment include Time Square in New York, Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, South Steers in Philadelphia, and Shibuya in Tokyo.
