It gives more opportunities to find effective intervention or strategy to help people. I think that treatment of abnormal behavior needs to be complex. It needs to include individual counseling, group therapy and various cognitive interventions. Individual counseling can establish trust between patient and counselor. Group therapy can give some examples of how person behaves in society and what situations trigger unwanted behaviors. Finally, cognitive interventions can help to develop effective reinforcement for positive behavior models to be applied in particular condition where abnormal behavior takes place. Counselors have to pay great attention to cultural and spiritual factors to understand their clients better. In this way, application of integrative approach to abnormal behavior requires counselors to be very flexible, culturally and emotionally intelligent and familiar with the latest cognitive interventions applied in treatment of abnormal behavior.
