This survey of the historical and conceptual development of intelligence tests in psychology gives insight into how ideas and debates related to them evolved, and identifies changes in conceptual issues to understand how psychological thought developed.

The Muscular-Skeletal Examination performed by me for the first time came as an opportunity when my hospital introduced a nurse-led pre-assessment clinic.  Ordinarily, hospital pre-assessment of patients is done by junior doctors, but our hospital took the assumption that this task can be effectively done by nurses, given their medical school training,  as well as experience in assisting patients and doctors in hospitals.

The disorder that I have chosen for this research paper is Social Phobia. It usually develops at an early age and is something that can be easily understood and related to by people of our age group. According to Richards (n.d), epidemiological studies social anxiety disorder is rated as the third largest psychological disorder in the USA.

These memories spread smiles all over the place. But sometimes our life hits an event that shakes the very core of our existence. Something that is so horrifying that you wish you could never recall but it sticks to your soul and keeps it dragging on the bed of thorns.

Even in present-day circumstances, one can see the effects of these power relations.

Family factors are an important cause of psychological disorders, the most common variables that cause disorder in a child of this age bracket are, family discord, parental deviance and social disadvantage. Family discord is often associated with marital discord, which produces unhappy, disruptive, quarrelsome homes, or a broken home, where the child does not get to live with both biological parents.

Erikson’s psychosocial model is one of the most regarded theories of personality. The theory is based on eight stages of human development that are also the stages of personality development and explains how the challenges faced by individuals help them grow. According to the theory, our personality or identity keeps changing depending on our everyday experiences with other people.

The condition comes about through a combination of genetic, environmental, and physiological factors. As it is a chronic condition, a significant population of persons diagnosed with the disorder in childhood continues to exhibit symptoms into adulthood and many have to learn to live with these symptoms for all of their lives

Social psychology supports the fact that human behavior is greatly influenced by other people, or the people involved in the interaction, and the situation.  The social psychological perspective thus relates to the aspects that result from the presence of others, which cause certain behaviors and actions to be produced by individuals.

Many studies have shown that individual stimuli can control responses by operant conditioning, and there have been attempts to show that a combination of these stimuli will give a greater response than when taken individually.

According to Boivin,  Hymel, & Bukowski, (1995), bullying is a mentality and a constant urge to dominate. The act of bullying entails deliberately intimidating or prosecuting persons who are deemed weaker. This means survival is guaranteed for those who have the ability to molest and intimidate those with less ability to resist such intimidation.

Counseling and psychotherapy are words that more often than not are used interchangeably or to mean the same thing (Fish, 2011). Counseling in simple terms means advising or providing guidance to a person who has got some problems which are forwarded to a professional for assistance and guidance.

Rape is a complex crime that involves deep emotional issues that are sometimes difficult for the legal system to navigate to get satisfactory outcomes. Both the victim and the offender are embroiled in the complexities of the issue and this means that those authorities involved must make decisions that create the best example of justice.

People have diverse needs which are manifested in many forms. Abraham H. Maslow has placed human needs in a hierarchy of relative prepotency as revealed in the Deeper Mind website (Deeper Mind). He identified five specific and distinct needs classified as: physiological needs (food, sleep, stimulation, activity); safety and security needs (protection from harm); love and belongingness needs (love, friendship, comradeship); esteem needs (self-respect, personal worth and autonomy); and self-actualization needs (achieving full potential) (Deeper Mind 1).

The next section proves that drug addiction can be prevented by the help of family oriented programs, school oriented programs and community oriented programs. In addition, scientific ways to confirm drug addiction are essential to provide effective treatment to the needy. Prescription medicine abuse must be considered seriously because it leads to drug addiction in future. Furthermore, combination of different types of treatment methods can save the teenagers from the clutches of drug addiction and related problems.

The ways of practice of human services have evolved for people from different ethnicities and races, Jews, Muslims or Christians. Way back in the 1900s, the social work movement in America started of different programs to address the needs of the poor and immigrants from other countries.

One such method is the quantification of hand preference (QHP), which tests subjects on their willingness to reach across a midpoint (into contralateral space) to grab a card. Perfect right- or left-handed individuals will reach across that midpoint one hundred percent of the time to reach the card, while someone with no preference will do so only half of the time.

Qualitative research has more relevance to psychology as it involves studying basic human behavior, however, the results of qualitative research often need to be followed with quantitative research to test the hypotheses generated, which can provide conclusions that are more reliably taken as facts.

Review of Seligman et al on Happiness In the article by Seligman, Parks and Steen the problem stated was that since WWII psychology has been solely focused upon curing the mentally ill and the other two original objectives, making ordinary people’s lives better and learning to understand genius and talent, have fallen by the wayside.Following WWII there were many people with psychological problems and there was money to help resolve them, so psychologists concentrated upon healing the sick.

These Theories of Personality help in understanding the way an individual’s personality affects their behavior; and the factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of different aspects of personality. Thus, these theories help one to understand the behavior of oneself as well as others (Carver & Scheier, 2000).

 Alcoholism and substance abuse are a concern for most people in the USA. According to Maurer (2006), about 43 percent of the total USA population is concerned about a member of their family who is alcoholic. Approximately 23 million people are addicted to some form of substance abuse with about 18million people being alcoholic. 

Personality theories developed in contemporary times have rather varied emphasis compared to the characteristic theories or the psychodynamic conjectures. While B.F. Skinner may not have a personality theory, his operant conditioning theory can be utilized in the formulation of how personality statement is formed and how it operates.

As part of going through the main discussion, the linkages between social and emotional development and development and memory during the infancy and childhood stages will be tackled in detail. Eventually, this study will seek to explore how developing minds could affect the ability of a person to critically think during the adolescence and adulthood stage.

A number of studies indicate that grandparents of the current generation are carrying a much bigger burden on the upbringing of their grandchildren than the grandparents of before.
