From this paper, it is clear that the family determines a child’s race, class, religion, language etc. all of which contribute greatly to the child’s self-concept. Of the many different associations, we form over the course of the lifespan. There are four main parenting styles: authoritative, authoritarian, indulgent, and disengaged.
