The study covered adult males entering prison in the state of Maryland who were assigned randomly to an early release program as inmates either in a traditional state prison or a correctional boot camp. The objectives of the program were threefold: evaluate whether a therapeutic program of education and treatment in a boot camp environment significantly reduces recidivism more than a comparable program.

There is not much research done in this area in the past which is the basic reason for my conducting this research. I will use questionnaires and structured interviews for carrying out the research. Historically human intellectual development occurred due to knowledge sharing among generations. Gender based division of labor refers to a patterned way in which the society constructs the roles that are to be played by men and those that are to be carried out by women in the society (Peoples & Bailey, 2011). Most at times, men specialize in works that are outside the home around and have some remuneration at the end of the day.

The movements of feminism have ultimately reached high goals and have declared women victorious but it doesn’t mean that violation of men’s rights should be done by women. Men also rose up in support of feminism since its inception, and different movements of men started in this regard. Women were not satisfying men’s sexual wants. These are the aftershocks of the feministic movement.

There are many underrepresented groups or minorities from the past and at present, consisting of people belonging to ethnic minorities, women and other related groups. These people have become off limited to some opportunities available only to chosen popular groups.Affirmative action programs today are giving these minorities or underrepresented groups just like the women into various opportunities that were not made available to them from the past.

The media underrepresents women portrays stereotypes and promotes traditional perspectives in gender roles in the society in which male power dominate and women learn to manipulate the power in order to achieve their desires. Gender-based traits such as violence, power, materialism, and vanity offer a medium for exploring the theme of gender roles.

Moreover, economic factors related to the job influence men and women differently. Such differences place emphasis on the potential of gender to cause certain problems within the workplace. Business accounting also exhibits problems related to the glass ceiling barriers that prevent women from making fast progress compared to the men who take up this field.

The author states that sex defines male and female biologically and the concept is the same in every culture. However, every culture has different concepts of gender roles that are assigned to males and females, and these are the gender roles that define the masculinity and femininity of an individual regardless of his physical anatomy.

The musician laments for a tyrannical futurist Ramona for whom he holds strong sexual feelings as he says, “Oh, Ramona, if there was only something between us/If there was only something between us”. The repetition of phrases in the song represents a repetition of acts in the realm of life that shapes identities like gender and sexuality.

This treatment extends to other functions of the society such as places of work and in leadership positions. As a result of this, various works have been put in place to raise awareness on the subjugation that women are going through in the society. Works of art including movies have been used to sensitize the society about this issue, where women have to fight and struggle to be treated equally with men; and this will be the focus of this study.

It is quite difficult to compare and critique articles when both of them made sense each arguing reasonably about the predicament of their respective genders. For the male, the points that were raised maybe not that often told but they were nevertheless valid. Indeed society has a lot of expectations from the male gender.

For this cause, there have been many movements advocating for the rights of women, especially in the last two decades. Many international actors such as the United Nations have been at the forefront in urging governments to take adequate measures to ensure the protection of women rights.

Many travesties are working as prostitutes (Kulick). Like the charity girls, survival is a result of having sex with men. Moreover, “the military regime had made it difficult for travesties to appear openly on the street in female clothing- males who did so risked being arrested and subjected to prolonged humiliation and torture” (Kulick 142).

There have also been efforts to ensure that the rhetoric of gender roles is in a way modified so that women do not appear like weaker sex. I am going to highlight on women's issues in development projects and some of the emotions it has spurred over the last few years under the summary Women in Development (WID) and Gender and Development (GAD).
