Same-sex Marriage in the United States Same sex marriage is legally acknowledged in various jurisdictions within US. The topic of same sex marriage is highly controversial. Various religions tend to provide different opinions about the legalizing of same sex marriage. The legal issues associated with the same sex marriage are complicated by the federal government of the United States. According to a significant part of US population, same sex marriage should not be legalized in US. Marriage is a matter of civil law. It is not the particular church affair. Each and every individual have different views regarding the same sex marriage. It is very much unfortunate that there are several growing stigmas that are attached with the topic. The identification of same sex couple is highly established in several countries. Denmark is the first nation who legalized same sex marriage. Now-a-days, the supreme court of US also legalized the same sex marriage concept. According to the new rules and regulations, same sex couples can adopt a child in their family or they can take a baby through the artificial process. According to the Goldberg’s survey, it is evident that there are three kinds of reactions that are coming up. One respondent group about this topic is addressing that the legalization of same sex marriage can be harmful for the society (Nagle 34). On the other hand, the other group of respondents has said that in order to save the human rights and morale ethics, the federal government of America needs to pass the demand of same sex couple. Both the two groups of viewers have several negative connotations as advocates have framed the issues successfully as one of the critical human rights. It is true that the marriage conflict come under civil law. Marriage law in US is more than a state matter. It is considered as the federal matter. According to the oppositions the enlarging marriage rights of same sex couples can undercut the conservative purpose of marriage. The study has been executed in order to understand the critical issues that are involved in the debate. The study will help to find several reasons by which the study can conclude that same sex marriage should not be legalized in US. Opponents of same sex marriage have argued that altering the conventional definition of marriage as between two opposite sex individuals will weaken a threatened institution. Legalizing same sex marriage is a kind of slippery slope that may guide to interspecies and polygamous marriages. It is true that the same sex couples are not capable to procreate. There is no undeniable interest to subsidize their marriage. It can be argued by several individuals that the happiness of these same sex couples can be enhanced through the same sex marriage. Moreover, it can be argued that the federal government of the United States should subsidize the same sex marriage in order to make the same sex couples happy (Spilsbury 121). It is known to all that the same sex couples are unable to reproduce themselves. Same sex marriage is not an issue of civil rights. Same sex marriage is a question of whether or not the government should encourage and subsidize the same sex marriage. Looking into the natural instincts, it can be stated that same sex marriage will affect the balance of a community or a society. According to several studies and research works, majority of the citizens of America have opposed the concept of same sex marriage. According to the survey, it is evident that the same sex marriage is not natural. The children resulting from this kind of marriage are also not natural. The same sex couples need to adopt a child or should follow an artificial structure to satisfy the desire level of having a child in the family. It can reduce the sense of stability within the society. In an addition, the same sex marriage can destabilize the concept and institution of marriage. Marriage is considered as the celebration of two couple’s relationship. Marriage is a strong bond that solidifies the relationship of the couples. It is discussed earlier that the children in a same sex family can face several difficulties. The major challenges for these kinds of children would be psychological challenges. Consequentialism theory generally holds an effective ethical and moral act. It has provided a god conclusive result to the specific topic. Children in the same sex families will find it very much difficult to adjust with normal social and communal structural variables. Lack of orientation about the parental sexual aspects can create huge stress for the children throughout their whole life. The same sex marriage concept can affect the future of the children. Having a same sex parent will be difficult for the children to discriminate between the sexual factors and genders. The rate of same sex marriage is increasing significantly. It can affect both the future generation and society as the natural balance will be affected due to the same sex marriage. These conflicts and issues will create several attitude and behavioral problems in children. Therefore, it can be stated that according to the Consequentialism theory, same sex marriage will not bring advantages and benefits to the children in a same sex family. Moreover, the concept of same sex marriage is unnatural and harmful for the society. Several reasons have been provided in the study that can prove that are sex marriage is harmful for society and it should be opposed in US. First of all, considering the traditional concept of marriage it can be stated that same sex marriage is not a marriage. Calling or referring something as a marriage does not make it a marriage. Marriage is a covenant between a woman and man. The promoters of same sex marriage have proposed the union between two women and men. It denies the psychological, biological, and physiological differences between women and men that find their balance in the marriage. On the other hand the same sex marriage violates the law of nature. Marriage cannot be just a relationship between two human beings. Marriage is a relationship rooted in the nature of human beings. Moreover, it is governed by the natural law. The most elementary precept of the natural law is that good is to be pursued and done and sin is to be avoided. According to the law of nature, the same sex marriage always denies a child either a mother or a father. Same sex marriage promotes and validates the homosexual lifestyle. Civil laws are referred as the structuring principles of the life of a man or a woman in a society. Civil laws help to shape the life of a community or a society on external basis. It profoundly modifies the perception of human beings and evaluation of the behavior forms. Same sex marriage revolves a moral wrong into the civil right. Race and sexual behaviors are different realities. A woman and a man want to marry according to their natural desire and behavior. The requirements for a traditional marriage between the opposite sexes within a society are always respected. On the other hand, same sex marriage opposes the law of nature. Two individuals within the same sex tend to be together through same sex marriage due to an insurmountable impossibility of the biological structure and instincts. The unchangeable and inherited racial traits cannot be compared with changeable and non genetic behavior. The same sex marriage cannot create and develop a traditional family. Same sex marriage is intrinsically sterile. If the same sex couples want to have a child, then they must avoid the rules and laws of nature. The same sex marriage need to be illegal as it offends god. It is the most key reason. The same sex marriage will oppose the traditional design of marriage made by god. Same sex marriage will change the foundation of the society in the future. Same sex couples will encourage others to be gay or lesbian. Therefore, the concept of same sex marriage needs to be banned. Same sex marriage is not natural to the real people. Legalizing same sex marriage can hamper the balance of society. Specifically, this same sex marriage will not allow or help the children to discriminate a man or a woman. In community or society, everybody will try to avoid the children basis on the law of nature (Payne 1). Though, ethically same sex marriage needs to be legalized but several negative impacts of this marriage concept can hamper the psychological balance of children. It will be very difficult for the children to achieve a prestigious social reorganization. It is difficult for a child to select a male or female role model. Children can never achieve success without the role model in his or her life. Therefore, the single parents are prohibited to raise a child. Same sex marriage is not supported by religion. In US, it is evident that the rate of same sex marriage is increasing after being legalized in several states. Day-by-day, the number of same sex couple is increasing due to the social misbalance. Children achieve initial influence from home through their parents. It is necessary for a child to know his or her name, gender. Moreover, they need to be knowledgeable about their parents (Stolberg and Sussman 1). A child can grow significantly within a society through the help of his or her parents. The same sex couples cannot provide these necessary things to their artificial or adopted children. It would be quite unfortunate for the future generation. Through the same sex marriage, the same sex couples can face several disadvantages. A same sex partner cannot receive other partner’s pension continuation or any kind of death benefit if the other partner dies. The deductible expense of a same sex partner cannot shelter the income of other partner. They have to fight for every single right as they can face several social barriers. The same sex couple cannot take much advantage of compensation plans. On the other hand, the same sex couples cannot provide healthy environment for their children. The same sex couples will find it difficult to offer effective and appropriate social reorganization to their children. The topic same sex marriage legalization is surrounded with several controversies. After several controversies and conflicts, the federal government of US has taken initiative to legalize the same sex marriage concept. According to the survey, it is identified that major of the respondents have argued negative to the topic. The same sex marriage is not a natural structure of traditional marriage. It is known to all that marriage is the strong bond of a relationship of two couples. Marriage between two same sex individuals can violate the natural law of marriage. Same sex marriage can hamper the balance of society. It is evident that, the number of same sex marriage is increasing significantly. It has several negative impacts on society and future generation. The same sex couple cannot reproduce child naturally. They have to adopt a child or they can take a baby through the artificial process. It will reduce both social and natural balance. A child from a same sex family cannot discriminate two genders. Due to the lack of sexual orientation the children will find it difficult to achieve significant social and communal reputation in schools and other parts of a society. It is necessary, for the government to undertake an effective vision strategy for the betterment of society. Today’s children are the assets of future. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the government and Supreme Court to focus on this issue. A same sex marriage will motivate the children to become homosexual. Therefore, in order to maintain a proper balance of men and women in a society, the same sex marriage should not be legalized in US. Work Cited Nagle, Jeanne. Same-sex Marriage: The Debate.
