To envisage a social world prior to photography, one would have to contemplate on a world with no picture IDs; with no portraits of ordinary people; one with no pictures as travel souvenirs; one with no pictures of celebrities; one with no advertising photographs; one with no X-rays or perceptions of outer space; a world with no perceptions of foreign, along with exotic peoples; one with no pictures of sports, disasters and wars; and one whereby the enormous masses of people were incapable of visually documenting the significant events of their lives.
