The Romantic Period had 100 and more players. This was different from that of the classical orchestras, which strictly used between 30 and 60 players in 4 sections: percussions, woodwinds, brass, and strings. The prior technology of the Classical Period included the serpent or a wooden horn with an S-shape and a bugle with keys.
