This type of simulation utilizes a computer-based mannequin, allowing experiential training of skills, knowledge, and decision-making, which builds confidence in a safe environment, transferable to real patient situations.

The high-fidelity patient simulation consists of an environment that accurately reflects a clinical setting where the centerpiece of the environment is an interactive mannequin with the ability to respond to nursing interventions (Tschannen et al., 2009). The educators for nursing early prepare nurses to practice in a more dynamic and complex healthcare environment. Students graduating from nursing schools around the country often feel unprepared to meet the demands placed on them by the healthcare industry. According to Mahoney et al. (2013), nurse administrators are concerned about the practice education gap as it becomes harder for nursing education to keep up with the rapid changes in the contemporary practice environment.
