This crosses both hemispheres and connects many different brain centers from all areas, so is an important means of distributing both energy and information.
I also paid attention to the articulator during the exercises by learning how to articulate different sounds and words in the solo song that were part of the exercises. Am still learning and practicing how to effectively control some of the components of the vocal mechanism. The ensemble group just got together and is still focusing on mastering the song chosen.
Darabuka is used in music from Middle Eastern countries. The thin drumhead is responsive and with a resonance that helps it produce a distinctively crisp sound (Saddie 2000). The origin of the term Darabuka can be traced to the Arabic word “Darba” which means to strike. This instrument was originally used in Sumeria and Babylon thousands of years ago.
