Effects of Fad Food Food faddism or fad diet is a pattern of eating that encourages loss of weight without the consideration of weight maintenance in the long term. Majority of individuals are known to adopt this kind of diet to gain temporary popularity. Fad diet is considered not scientific as it does not obey the scientific ways of diet determination. For instance, fad diet is not viable to any revision or alteration while the scientific one remains changeable should there be need. It is believed fad diet is an alternative way of weight loss instead of the traditional ways such as maintaining low carbohydrate diet as well as low calorific consumption. Fad diet constitutes simple diets that contain one or very few elements like cabbage and cottage cheese. Other than weight loss, there are other reasons why people would stick on fad food and these include taking a certain food to cure some diseases, some ignoring some food believing the food is harmful to his/her health, eating certain food to fulfill some lifestyle, being lazy or tired to prepare proper meal at home (Lappe , 23-77). This work tends to elaborate the disadvantages of fad diets. However, it is worth mentioning that this kind of diet also has got its good side. For instance, fast foods save a lot of time as well as effort to cook. The food is also cost saving since one does not incur the costs of cooking through buying the ingredients, fuel, serving utensils, and others. Instead, one walks to the nearby restaurant and picks the favorite fast food. It is convenient since there are no long lines to be served. It is considered reliable since one can get the same kind of food once he/ she makes an order thus there are no surprises or strange tastes experienced. Fast food is regarded fresh due to high turn over. Consequently, fresh food is made to cater for the high number of customers. Sometimes one is left with no choice but to pick the fast foods, for instance, when one is on a tight schedule. In this case, one is advised to pick healthier foods like the salads, bread products, lean meat, and boiled food instead of fried ones. One should avoid carbonic drinks as much as possible and instead order plain water, juices or milk containing low fats. The disadvantages of fad food include containing high sugar, fats or oil, salt and calories yet this are elements considered unhealthy when taken in high quantity as they cause complications like obesity, high blood pressure, among other ailments. Some fast foods contain high bacteria which are harmful to human life. Most fast food are fried which destroys some nutrients. Besides, these foods are not balanced diet as they lack major components like fruits and vegetable. The modern lifestyle does not enable complete utilization of consumed fats and calories. These result to accumulation in the form of fats deposits that may cause heart diseases as well as obesity. These might lead to further complications like high blood pressure and joint pains. Fast food restaurants is considered economical when it is individual being served. However, it is expensive to take a whole family to the restaurant instead of preparing a family meal at home. Research has it that families whose members depend majorly on fast food restaurants tend to spend less time together since it is believed that family meals enable such members to come together and share stories, solve disputes and all these is meant to strengthen the family bonds. Fad foods encourage short term weight loss but one gains a lot of weight once he/she stops being on a fad diet. These foods also lack several important nutrients which could as well lead to some health problems. Other than fad foods, some oral pills could also be used to reduce some weight. However, the pills should be discouraged as they have side effects that deteriorate human health. Fad foods are known to contain a lot of protein which has negative effects on the kidney and blocks the arteries which is a condition that could lead to death. Research indicates that the consumption of fad foods has got several negative environmental impacts. For instance, The New Community Project, which is a non governmental environmental awareness organization, indicates that the fast foods served in several restaurants have got negative effects on the environment. Liver damage is a common bad effect associated with high consumption of fast foods. Fatty foods overwork the liver and eventually lead to its failure. A heart attack is another condition that results from over consumption of fast foods as a result of excess Trans fats in the foods. These include foods like French fries as well as chicken nuggets. High accumulation of Trans fat in the body could raise the cholesterol levels and increase chances of heart attacks. Qatar 2022 FIFA World cup Qatar proposal to host the 2022 FIFA World cup is received with a lot supporting factors that this work tends to dwell on. Qatar is a country in the Arab state with a population of about 1.69 million persons. It is the first Arab nation to have the opportunity to host the much anticipated World cup. The bid is also driven by some other facts, for instance, it is believed that the tournament would create links as well as harmony between the Arab countries and the west. The idea of hosting FIFA World cup came up when Qatar successfully hosted the friendly match between Brazil and Argentina. Many people came from different regions of the world to watch the match. The event was termed successful by FIFA officials. Furthermore, Qatar also hosted the 2011 Asian cup which was also a successful event. The president of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, welcomed the idea of hosting the 2022 tournament in an Arab state as he stated that Arab community has about 22 nations yet none has got the opportunity to host the much anticipated tournament. He went further to praise the country in terms of its population growth. The last time he was there, the country had about 400, 000 people but currently statistics indicate that Qatar has about 1.6 million people. The infrastructure in the nation is not doubted having successfully organized the Asian games in 2006. Despite all the supporting factors, Qatar faces climatic disadvantage due to its extreme temperatures since it is a desert country. World cup tournament is hosted in the months of June and July during which Qatar experiences an average daily temperature of about 50 degrees centigrade; this is about 120 farads and it does not fall below 30 degrees centigrade .This is considered uncomfortable for the tournament. Due to the harsh temperatures, it is opted that the tournament be organized in June or July when the climate would be altered via technological applications and this process is already in motion. The stadiums would have controlled temperatures. The venues to host the tournament are already proposed and the five stadia were proposed as early as March 2010. The stadia are expected to have a cooling technology which is able to reduce the high temperatures by around 20 degrees centigrade. It was suggested the expensive materials used to construct the stadia (more so the uppermost tiers) which will later be dismantled after the event and donated to nations without proper sports facilities and this is a very moving or rather convincing idea. The designs of the stadia are up to par as it was done by qualified and accepted architect company in Germany called Albert Speer and Partners. The stadiums air conditioning, both for players as well as spectators, would be controlled and powered by solar energy which emits no carbon to the atmosphere hence environmental friendly. The capacity of the stadiums is pleasing. For instance, Al-khor stadium which is located 50 km in the northern region of Doha will have a capacity of about 45, 330 with about 19830 seats being part of temporary in the uppermost tiers. Al-Wakrah stadium, on the other hand, will have a complete capacity comprising of about 45,120 seats. It will also have temporary seats of about 25,500 in the upper tiers among other stadiums. Qatar, being an Arab country where Islam is the main religion, it is thought that it would hinder other people from different religions and beliefs from having total fun during the festivity of the tournament, more so people from the west. Regarding alcohol consumption, there are several clubs, bars as well as hotels and restaurants, where the drinks are legally offered on showing a passport. It was also agreed that alcohol would be permitted in the stadiums during the World cup event. A few stands would be located in the stadiums where alcohol would be sold. The game would be open to everyone, the Israeli team included. The Arab- Israel conflict was quite a concern but the matter was addressed comprehensively and the outcome was that the Israeli National football team would be allowed to play in the Arabic soil without any negotiations between the rivals. There is no tension concerning the conflict because the Israeli athletes had participated in the prior event organized in Qatar without any difficulties. In addition, the Israeli team participated in Doha championships. Another issue was the ban of homosexual fans in Arabic land but the matter was dealt with in to details when the FIFA president insisted that the tournament is meant for everyone without any description. Consequently, hence all factors favored the most anticipated tournament held in Qatar come the year 2022. In conclusion, fad foods could be helpful to the body but if only served to the correct quantities and should contain the required elements and nutrients but to the correct amounts. Too much fad foods does more harm than good as it leads to various body complications e.g. the heart attacks, obesity, artery blockage among other diseases. Work Cited Lappe, Anna.
