Basically, HCI involves the usage of computers in different contemporary ways such as mobile devices, urban games, virtual worlds, technology adoption among others. Qualitative techniques such as ethnography, ethnomethodology are critically used in human-computer interactions. The above tools and techniques usually come from a range of fields, and we will focus on how they are imported, adopted, adapted, and finally used. A new strain of research known as critical computing is used in the HCI and it has been pivotal in spearheading the area.

Being an interdisciplinary field, more knowledge is incorporated in the field and its dynamicity increases day by day. The sociologists are involved, medics, anthropologists among other specialists, and that forms the foundation of Tom Rodden’s assertion,” all users should be challenged so that they can feel awkward when they are using the computers”. In the real sense, Rodden was asserting that more complicated systems should be introduced within the HCI hemisphere so that users can be more creative and stop being over-dependent.

For instance, many computer users are used to standard and simple software that performs simple tasks, but Rooden affirms that more complex and intricate software and programs should be introduced so that users may feel awkward and chat for the way forward and in pursuit of creativity and efficiency.

In the origin and development of HCIIn an attempt to understand the concept of HCI, it is paramount to get the basic foundation that the diverse technology is built on. By the late 1970s, only a few humans interacted with computers and were regarded as IT specialists. However, the emergence of personal computing changed the whole idea about computers, and diversification of their use started changing day in day out. The programming languages, knowledge of computing, and spreadsheets also changed the whole idea about computers. The spread of this knowledge made computers easily accessible to anybody hence diversifying the field of computer science.
