Conducting a Recruitment and Selection Exercise Job for a senior sub-editor The chief sub-editor would be responsible for writing great and outstanding headlines and sub-headlines with an attractive style of the art. The chief sub-editor will co-ordinate and manage the editorial team in the editors absence. Depending on the terms of the contract and the production policy of the company, the sub-editor would typically be responsible for the following tasks:- Checking at stories (duplicate) for spelling, linguistic or authentic lapses Re-writing and summarizing stories as necessary to suit the daily paper’s house style, dialectic level as well as ensure it is within the word count (Corner 2006, p.17) Must ensure that the presented stories are beyond any doubt precise and do not in any way infringe upon any copyright or defamation laws and are not in conflict with the publication’s policy (Evans 2012, p.21) Must keep in check with the creators of stories or writers on particular inquiries regarding their stories Composing “stand firsts” which are basically introductions to the presented stories and make appealing features that fit in the provided spaces before publication Gathering tables of data such as sporting or even election results Adjusting the format of print duplicates for the company’s website. Editing complete pages presented by other sub-editors utilizing the fundamental essential selling images (Noe 2006, p. 56) Ensuring proper page plan to guarantee that the right stories are shown in the right place on every page. Editing photographs or adverts and choosing the appropriate place to utilize them for the best impact as well as compose picture inscription.
