Lunenburg (2011) asserts that this involves thinking about the big picture, using the SMART technique to craft workable goals, making each goal a positive statement, setting priorities, keeping incremental goals small, tracking your progress and rewarding your accomplishments.

Step two involves using SMART as an adjective to show effective ways of setting goals. The set goals should be;

Specific; the goals set must answer the question of where, why, what, when and who.
Measurable; in order for goals to be achieved, they must be measurable.
Attainable; this requires the set goals to be within reach and should be real.
Relevant; this aspect requires the set goals to be important in somebody’s life.
Time-related; this requires the set goals to be achieved within a specified period (Lunenburg, 2011).

After setting smart goals, each goal should be positive and organized in order of priority. Then the set goals must be regularly tracked. As a way of motivation, accomplishments must be rewarded. This will involve going through the whole procedure from start to the end. Read More
