The annexation of Texas and the subsequent westward expansion of slavery were the major catalysts of the racial conflicts that led to Civil War. Manifest Destiny is not a coherent ideology; it is often self contradictory. It has no single source of origin as well. The ideals of Manifest Destiny were not pursued in the same way.
It had not acquired a clear and stable normative content in contemporary international law until the Judgment of the Nuremberg Tribunal after the Second World War.
Historically, the question arose in practice for belligerent States to determine the acts committed in time of war for which they could try the combatants or civilians belonging to the enemy, or possibly to a third, neutral State.
The splendid white structure is actually a tomb built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Arjumand Banu Begum, dearly referred to by his subjects as Mumtaz Mahal.
