Lesson Plan: Mental and Emotional Health – Physical StressIn teaching, putting together a comprehensive lesson plan is instrumental in facilitating effective delivery of desired contents to learners. In practice, necessity of a comprehensive lesson plan is paramount whenever the subject of learning and the type of learners are dynamic. Technically, effectiveness of lesson plans varies. This means that some lesson plans can yield higher levels of success in teaching compared to other lesson plans.

Normally, a detailed examination of a plan’s components will invariably expose its strengths and weaknesses (Bruce, 2013). Subsequent sections of this paper contain objective critique of a physical stress lesson plan, particularly in terms of the plan’s strengths and weaknesses. StrengthAdmittedly, presence of appropriate teaching aids, especially materials for graphical illustrations, feature as one of the strengths in the physical stress lesson plan. With respect to the materials section of the plan, a transparency projector and inflated balloons are examples of teaching material included in the lesson.

In addition, the teaching master is a proportional representation of a body’s physical parts. Illustrative texts are incorporated into the graphical teaching master to enhance learners’ comprehension. In this context, it is acknowledgeable that the health lesson plan contains important resources needed to achieve predetermined objectives. Personally, I think integration of appropriate materials feature as strength in the lesson plan because the resources motivate learners to inclusively participate in learning.

Without the teaching aids, students would demonstrate a significantly low level of interest in the lesson (Bruce, 2013). For example, learners with hearing impairments will be motivated to learn by demanding other lesson participants to observe relevant conversational cues. Within the lesson plan, student participation is promoted by asking learners to mention personal instances when they have experienced stress in their lives. Moreover, the bursting of a balloon prior to the lesson’s commencement elicits momentary tension among students, thus serving as a participatory illustration of physical stress in the body.

WeaknessOne weakness of the lesson plan is limited evaluation techniques. Undeniably, adequate evaluation is an essential part of a lesson plan. It is only through evaluation that the effectiveness of teaching can be ascertained. In the absence of evaluation, teachers could be using ineffective teaching methods that undermine achievement of desirable learning outcomes (Bruce, 2013). On the other hand, use of limited evaluation methods lead to omission of evaluative evidence that help in gauging a lesson plan’s effectiveness.

With respect to the physical stress lesson plan in subject, it emerges that students will be evaluated through conversational responses in class. Actually, the physical stress lesson plan will only evaluate students’ comprehension of learned concepts by asking them to orally share ways to deal with stressors. Despite providing first-hand indication of a plan’s effectiveness, conversational responses often fail to reinforce learned concepts when students get out of class. In this regard, the limited presence of evaluative components in the health lesson plan is a visible weakness that can compromise on the plan’s success.

Suggested ImprovementsIncreasing the number of evaluation techniques in the lesson plan will not only help in future modification of the plan’s structure, but also help students in objectively gauging their performances. Examples of evaluation techniques that can be included into the plan include administration of check tests at the end of each lesson, coupled with provision of homework assignments to be completed by learners outside the classroom setting.
