Health-a social or biological issue Health is a terminology that de s a person’s well being whether physical, social or emotion. A person’s well being derives from different factors in their life that may be either biological or social. Health becomes a biological issue when illness has to be traced from aspects that relate to a person’s body. For instance, some illnesses are as a result of certain agents or germs interfering with a person’s body and thus making one feel sick (Locker, 20).

Other sicknesses are hereditary, for example diabetes and are thus biological. However, viewing health may also be a social aspect as much as it is biological. Such things as mortality levels as well as life expectancy greatly depend on a person’s social aspects. This arises from the idea that one’s social interactions in one way or the next dictate their general well being. For instance, lifestyle is a key social aspect that dictates a person’s general stature. It thus follows that a person who lives a standard lifestyle such as observing the right diet and sticking to exercise possess excellent health.

Other social determinants such as stress also determine one’s well being (Locker, 23). In Addition, better education and employments besides enhanced social cohesions are associated with better health. People’s housing conditions are also said to have a close connection to health. It is for these reasons that health becomes categorized as a social aspect. Health and medicine have an undisputed nexus to social inequality in several ways. Inequality is to blame for ill health among many citizens, be it mortality rates, declined life expectancies or even obesity.

Studies explain that states that have social inequality, for instance USA experience worst health. People in poorer states that show equality are said to live longer compared to people inhabiting in inequality dominated states (Rosenthal). Inequality leads to the incidence of insecurity, lessened cohesion between societies as well as stress among nations. A research gave the analysis of 282 zones in USA and came to the conclusion that areas that depicted increased income inequalities also had heightened deaths (Rosenthal).

The US continues to labor under deteriorated health because it lacks a universal system to rule it, a factor that contributes to its inequality.
