Our highly educated and motivated Small Group Leaders, who embody the warrior ethos, must be confident, competent decision-makers, prudent risk-takers, effective communicators, innovative, adaptive, professionally educated, and dedicated to the life-long learning process of our Signal ALC/SLC students.

The Signal Noncommissioned Officer Academy staff and faculty must be equipped with the technical adeptness to employ modern computer systems and trained to World Class proficiency, capable of strategic responsiveness, and the ability to dominate various technologies across the full spectrum of operations. Command Philosophy To Fulfill our Mission……We are committed to a strong and comprehensive World Class educational program and learning environment that enhances self-esteem, provides and develops positive community role models, optimizes each Signal NCO’s potential, develops a lifelong love of learning, builds personal responsibility, and accentuates individual respect.

Fundamental to our Mission……Is a commitment to the active involvement of a competent and caring Academy staff, teamwork, shared leadership, effective management of resources, and a safe and orderly learning environment for our Signal NCOs. We pride ourselves on our dedication to our students, their families, our community, our professions, each other, and to continuous learning. The RNCOA creates a World Class educational environment supportive of courageous endeavors and committed to helping all Signal Noncommissioned Officers achieve academic excellence through intellectual, creative, and physical challenges while enabling them to function as productive and successful Signal leaders in an ever-changing world.

“People, Places, Tasks, Conditions………….. may change; but “STANDARDS” remain the same.” SIGNAL STRONG. ARMY STRONG TYRONNE L. SMOOT CSM, USA Commandant Welcome Statement Welcome to the Regimental Noncommissioned Officer Academy (RNCOA)!! My name is Command Sergeant Major Tyronne L. Smoot. I am the Commandant of this illustrious Institution of Higher Learning, which is servicing the best Signal Soldiers in the Army and the entire world. I would like to congratulate you on being selected to attend the RNCOA.

Our goal is to train, lead, motivate, and mentor every student who attends our Academy. The Senior Leader Course (SLC) and Advanced Leader Course (ALC) are the legacy courses that have been taught at the Academy. However, we have made great strides to propel our pedagogical efforts into the 21st century. Currently, the RNCOA staff and faculty are actively engaged in conducting training at satellite locations throughout the Continental United States (CONUS). RNCOA Mobile Training Teams (MTTs) offer their instructional expertise working with dedicated trainers at these extension sites in order to present our NCOES courses to Soldiers who are unable to take advantage of our traditional programs at the Fort Gordon Site.

Our mission is to develop Signal leaders who possess the attributes and leadership skills required of professional Noncommissioned Officers. Our goal is to enhance the confidence of Signal Noncommissioned Officers while inspiring them to willingly assume and fulfill their responsibilities as leaders both during peacetime and times of war. The keys to success at the RNCOA are a positive attitude, dedication to excellence, and living the Army values. Embracing these tools will result in the successful completion of your academic program and will lead to graduation.

I am confident that you will find your experience both physically and mentally challenging. However, when you leave these Academy doors, I know that you will be an asset to the Armys Signal community. I encourage you to provide your feedback, comments, and suggestions to assist us with continuing to make your Academy a much better place to learn. Again welcome to the RNCOA and congratulations on being selected to attend the Regimental Noncommissioned Officer Academy. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each and every one of you.
