Running Head: EXERCISE AND GOOD LIFE Exercise and Good life Teacher’s ID People move for their own personal reasons. Some want fitness, whereas others need a refuge and time for just themselves. I believe that participating in activity class is my way of learning self-discipline. This is the skill that I have been meaning to develop for some time. It is important to note that self-discipline is not just one skill; it is a way of life. Participating in activity class assists me in learning to do things that I may not like but are beneficial for me in the long-run.
Hence, it helps me in assessing things and matters of life with logical reasoning and prudence. Activity class is also about learning importance of hard work. Participating in activity class is a live example of understanding the phrase, “No pain, No gain”. When we want better things for us in life, there are no easy ways of obtaining them. For that reason, we need to strive for them and earn them on the basis of our own hard work. Therefore, resilience and persistence are the keys to success and happiness in life.
Another important output of this activity class is learning to accept yourself as you are. Through this class, I get an opportunity to explore my weaknesses and work on them. Hence, this class helps me develop a mechanism of self-evaluation and have reality check of my skills and abilities. Activity class may appear to be all about physical movement and exercise but in reality, it helps us in exploring ourselves and take initiatives to make ourselves better people. 2. The good life is all about being content and experiencing joy in little things.
It is about not having new things but appreciating what we already have. If we tend to find joy in things, it will be a short-lived happiness since things become old; get expired and their trends change. However, happiness that stems from within makes every day of life a good one. A good life is supposed to have a purpose and meaning quite similar to an activity class. I expect activity class to not only contribute in my physical health but also character building. This is precisely the reason why everything we do in our lives should have meanings.
Purposeless life lacks direction and will to do good for others and society. A desire to have a good life motivates one to have some roles to play at work, within family, friends and community. Accomplishments in these roles through struggle and movement leads to self-satisfaction and joy in turn. It is also important to note that having a good life means causing no or limited harm to those around us; be it humans or nature itself. Struggling for this will also require an effort e.g. removing stone or garbage from the street as it may hurt others.
A good life is something which motivates us to do better things for ourselves and society. Doing so requires good will and physical activity. Hence, physical activity is not about gaining bodily strength; it is a source of being peaceful at heart and mind.
