Music constitutes one critical machine used to drive the daily progress of various communities and societies. It is not easy for any individual to ignore the effects that music has on any given society.
Generally, music forms a critical component of societies with vast advantages and importance to particular individuals or societies.

At a personal level, I have continued to believe that music comprises one aspect of societal life that needs improvement and integration to benefit societies even more than it happens currently. In a move to appreciate the significance of music, I start by referring back to childhood development processes. The repeated trend of listening to music by children helps in nurturing and enhancing language skills. When listening to music, children try to grasp some repeated clauses and would try to imitate the sounds. When practiced over and again, particular children may develop appropriate listening and speaking skills at an early age (Silberg). The attention abated to music by children may trigger them to clap or stamp their feet in congruence with the rhythm of the music. This practice may become very instrumental in enhancing the reading skills of the particular child. Furthermore, exposing a child to various forms of music helps in developing and nurturing self-esteem, self-confidence, creativity, and curiosity (Kania 241). These aspects are very basic in the learning and developmental process of the individual child. In addition, I regard music as one of the viable methods of communication used to trigger the transition from one activity to another. This aspect of music has been practiced among schoolchildren, particularly during lunchtime and time for going home.

Music has been very essential in enhancing and regulating my moods and emotions. Whenever I feel stressed and incapable to move on, music has always been a tool for self-consolation and encouragement. This is because when one concentrates on a particular sound of music, every other thought vanishes thereby leaving one with desired mental relief (Levitine 2). Moreover, music offers the best motivational tool when doing certain works. The entertainment and enjoyment developed by various sounds and tones of music make an individual continue to perform a given task despite the difficulty involved with the task. In addition, music has proved important aspect of the sport and physical exercise that have helped in ensuring physical wellbeing. As can be proved, the sounds and rhythms triggered by various forms of music can drive one into dancing which mainly involves multidirectional movement of the body parts. These movements help in maintaining physical, emotional, and psychological fitness that is good for healthy living. Music training requires extra commitment and punctuality which in turn demands good organization of individual programs. Adherence to these demands automatically helps in developing self-discipline in the individual musician (Silberg).

In conclusion, music is an essential component of social life as it majorly targets shaping societies in a more positive manner. Music has the required potential of helping an individual child develop quick and perfect linguistic skills. Recurrent exposure to various sounds and tones of music helps in nurturing the cognitive development of an individual child as it enhances the listening, speaking, and reading skills of an individual listener.
