B. I. Bandwidth is very important when trying to determine how much you should allot in order to properly stream video or audio. Bandwidth is important to remember, because it can affect how well your video or audio is transmitted across the internet. For example, if you are trying to move a hour long feature movie across a 56k connection, the amount of bandwidth is uses would be immense, and result in a slow project for the person trying to stream the audio or video. Videos and audio use much more bandwidth than regular internet surfing and web page hosting, so it is important to keep it in mind when designing pages, video, and audio streams for internet use. II. There are several ways to reduce the bandwidth of your audio or video file. One way would be to zip the file and give the user the option to download it this way instead of streaming it in real time. You also could reduce the size of the video player, which would allow the video to play faster and reduce bandwidth usage. Another way to do this is to multicast the stream, which would allow multiple users to receive the feed at the same time and drastically cut back on the bandwidth usage of the video or audio stream. III. The IEEE-1934 standard is one of the most usable and helpful technologies ever developed for the transmitting of data over cables. It is low cost and high speed, both major factors when considering how a company should transmit movies and audio. It also allows a company to transmit 400mbps of data over a tiny thin cable, and that alone is worth way more than its weight. C: I.There are many different formats used in media distribution. There are MP3, real audio, MP4 and even windows own movie files. Different companies often use different formats to keep the media only usable with that company. For example, I-tunes files are only usable with Apple products, and Apple wants to keep it that way. The same goes for Microsoft Windows Audio Files, which are only usable by the Microsoft Media Player. II. While both methods are “streaming”, there are a few differences between true streaming and HTTP streaming. If you want to be able to capture a live cast really well, the best way to do it would be “true” streaming with the help of either a specialized serve or media protocol. Using HTTP methods allows the video to be progressively downloaded from the server. HTTP gives the advantage of allowing the user to watch as the file is downloaded, however HTTP streaming does not adjust to the bandwidth of the user midstream. III. There are several ways a serve can adapt to changes in propagation conditions to help keep the media coming clearly. One way to reduce this problem is to use is to use a forward error correction or to also make sure the server automatically requests reset strategies. E: I. MPEG-1 has about the same resolution as that of a VHS tape, and is often used by the Video Cd and even sometime the DVD video format. MPEG-1 also includes the popular format of MP3, which is often used for audio storage. MPEG-2 has many advancements over the original format, and includes support for interlaced video, and also outperforms MPEG-1 at all speeds over 3/mbits. II. MPEG-4 also adds many new features over the MPEG-2 format. It added the support for 3d rendering, object orientated composite files, and even support for Digital Rights Management. It also replaced AAC which was often used with MPEG-2, previous to the release of MPEG-4. III. The MPEG-4 container formats can be used for MP4, OGG, Quick Time, Real media, VOB, ASF, AVI, and many other media and audio formats. G: I. Podcasting differentiates from streaming in several ways. In Podcasting, the user actually downloads the file for later use on their computer or other mobile device. In streaming, the file is not actually downloaded and can not be watched again, unless it is being streamed again. II. HTTP streaming, Podcasting, and true streaming all have their advantages and minuses. HTTP streaming allows users to watch as the content is downloaded, something both podcasts and streaming don’t. On the other hand, podcasts allow the person to take their media with them and use it later. Streaming however, still gives the best capture of a live event, but suffers from the other options of the two other outlets. III. Podcasts continue to evolve even today. I think in the future we will see more things opting to go this route. However, I think podcasts should not limit themselves to one type of device, and people should be able to download them and use them on any mobile device. Also, I think podcasts need to up their production values so to speak, as many of them are of low quality. If they can up the quality of them, make the more accessible, and allow the person to watch as they downloaded them, I would say they are the supreme downloading format. . EXTRA Questions: Over the 4 Page Payment A: I. There are several different applications that can stream media over the internet. Windows media Player,Real Player, ITUNES, Windows Internet Explorer, Firefox, FLASH, Java, and several different other programs can all transmit video over the internet. II. I would recommend a computer with a lot of hard drive space, the fastest processor, and the most memory available. The hard drive space will be needed as video editing can sometimes more often than not take up loads of hard drive. The other specs are needed so the computer can keep up with the editing you are doing without slowing down of crumbling under the pressure. III. The ability to import videos is important, as is the ability to edit them right on the computer. Functionality is very important, as is how the program interface works, and if the interface is easy to use or not. How fast the program works, and how it converts and uses it files is also extremely important. EXTRA Questions :Over the 4 Page Payment D: I. YUV color model is one of the video signal standards that help keep all video playable under the same rules and guidelines. There are several different video standards, but the YUV color model is one of the most common and is used by most video today. It is used because “the sampling rate for both of the colour difference signals is half the sampling frequency of the luminance.” II. 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 are both different quantization that can be used with uncompressed video formats. III. MP3 is also known as Mpeg-1 Audio Layer 3 and it is used for the transmittance of audio. It is a “that is designed to greatly reduce the amount of data required to represent the audio recording, yet still sound like a somewhat faithful reproduction of the original uncompressed audio to most listeners.” IV. The number 720 stands for 720 lines of vertical display resolution, and the p stands for progressive scan. Extra Page-Over the 4 Page Payment F: I. Redundancy can be used to help compress files by coding. It helps to “represent the senders data more concisely, but nevertheless perfectly.” Entropy encoding includes many different types of coding, and can also be used to help reduce the complexity of the file that you are trying to code. It uses an random variable, where redundancy tries to remove a redundant variable by using statistical redundancy. II. The human ear can only hear so many different waves of sound, this allows for audio to be compressed beyond the realms of the human ear, and yet still be smaller files than the original recordings. III. Lossless audio files are perfect in their recordings, and are now slowly being used by audiophiles and companies alike to keep perfect archives of their audio files. FLAC, Monkey’s Audio, and Shorten are all audio lossless files. IV. Lossy coding, on the other hand is used by a much more wide array of users. These are digitally compressed audio files and are used by computers, DVDs, mp3 players, tv and radio. These files leave out the parts of the audio the human ear cannot hear, and is the widely used alternative to lossless files. Read More
