I believe that it is my calling to serve my people, so I joined the Navy a few years back. During my stay with the Navy, I met get to met a very wonderful person – our chaplain. He helped me and my buddies get through the grueling times in Navy. Being away from my family and my homeland for the first time was not easy. I got so homesick during my first few days at the Navy and there were times when I felt so emotional about a lot of things. Fortunately, our Chaplain was always there to help me out.
Whenever I feel disheartened, I seek the emotional and spiritual support of the Chaplain. Most of my buddies also relied on our Chaplain for emotional and spiritual guidance. Watching our chaplain help young and old people from all walks of life on a day to day basis made me realize what I want to do for the rest of my life. I am going to be a Navy chaplain and serve those who are in need. I believe that I can make a lot of difference in the world if I serve my fellow human beings turn towards God and embrace the goodness of God’s love.
However, before I could become a good Navy Chaplain, I need to have the right kind of education and training. Despite my strong Christian foundation and my commitment to serve others, I feel ill equipped to handle different circumstances that calls for great faith and understanding. You see, a Navy Chaplain is required to travel to other countries and he needs to provide emotional and spiritual guidance to a diverse group of Marines, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and their families. Without proper training, I many not be able to fulfill my duties to the fullest.
Letting those people who need my help down is simply unacceptable for me so I need to be well prepared for whatever job I do. To prepare myself for the demanding job of a Navy Chaplain, I need to study in an educational institution that “support faithful living in a pluralistic and multi-faith environment.” When I read the
