This supports their stand that a man's experience molds him into the person he ought to be regardless of his nature. It implies that conditioning determines what a person would become. May that person be an artist, a doctor, or a criminal; his genes have the least thing to do with it. That a man's development is solely based on what he had experienced. Cognitive psychology, on the other hand, focuses on man's mental capability. It regards man as the highest form of creature that is biologically equipped with logic and rationality.

A man's intelligence is attributed to his innate genetic makeup. For them, a man's recognition between good and evil lies naturally with his own. Man being able to comprehend life and its intricacies would certainly manage to distinguish a much simpler matter such as recognizing good and evil. His life's experiences influenced by its underlying factors such as people whom he encountered, hardships, and joy, he learns to act accordingly. Being faced with these situations, he would have an observation such as hurting someone may lead to punishment, or an act of kindness may lead to rewards.

Eventually, this idea will serve as the basis of his reactions, more likely equating good deeds with good rewards. As he undergoes that mental process he would then come up with a reaction based on that understanding and that for the cognitive psychologist is the process that a human development undergoes. This approach views man's learning process based on information flow. Being equipped with a flexible and adaptive mind, man's perception takes emotion, environment, and other psychological factors into consideration.

This approach involves the process of transforming symbolic representations of stimuli into an internalization of the world the man is in. With their difference, research had been done to come up with a conclusion that both approaches should be taken into consideration. Some have even intertwined cognitive and behavioral approaches. They end up with the conclusion that both contribute a great deal to human psychology. That nature and nurture play an equally important role as genetic /nature serves as the potential, while environment serves as the deciding factors.

With regards to the perspective/ distinction between good and evil, it would be more acceptable than the concept may be an outcome of a person's experience or genetic makeup.
