Extract of sample "Characteristics of Organizations That Have Good Leaders"

It is commonly believed that a leader is the one who creates a successful organization and it is not the successful organizations that create a prominent leader (LAUDON, 2002, p.32). A leader is considered as high in leadership qualities when he has the capability to lead his or her organization towards the way of success, is ready to experience challenges, is high in extroversion, is ready to accept his mistakes and correct them in a timely manner and is high in emotional intelligence (LUCEY, 2005, p. 60). Organizations that have good leaders have the following characteristics; their employees are highly motivated and their productivity level is even reasonably high as compared to that of organizations that lack in the area of having good leaders (WAGER, 2009, p.210). Motivation is the inner driver in a human being to achieve and accomplish aims and objectives, organizations that have highly motivated employees benefits from the high productivity of these employees.

The task of motivating employees is solely in the hands of the leader, he is responsible to lead as an example and inspire them to perform well. Empowerment is another way through which leaders can motive employees, if leaders delegate tasks and provide their followers with authority and responsibility to complete those tasks, the employees will feel that their leaders trust them and will be highly motivated to perform those tasks in the most effective and efficient manner.
Discussion
Globalization through considered advantageous for everyone increases the concern of employees as it brings along change with itself. Change is referred to as doing this differently, in simpler terms; change is the process of doing the same jobs in different ways. Change is highly disliked by employees as they fear that they will not be able to cope with change and will lose their jobs, thus employees tend to be an obstacle in the way of an organization’s success if they stand against change (BALL, 2004, p.187). For example: In the Information Technology industry, continuous change takes place, new software is developed to make work easier and to replace the older software.

Employees fear that they might not be able to work on the new software and they resist this change as they fear they will be replaced by people who have knowledge of how to use the software (MOHAPATRA, 2012, p.222). New software may be helpful in increasing productivity and decreasing loss of time, thus if firms in this industry fail to implement this change, they might continue with lower productivity and time will be wasted, thus they will not be able to compete against those firms that implement such changes.
