Organizational Behavior Contents Answer 3 Answer 2 3 Answer 3 4 Works Cited 5 Answer The phrase “Motivation” has been developed from the expression “Movere” that means movement. “Motivation” basically implies the attempt of a person to generate utmost productivity for a specific epoch of time with relevance to the objectives of the firm. Motivation has got close links with a person’s traits like strength of mind, competence, constancy, inventiveness, thoroughness & self-discipline.
It is a term which is qualitative in nature as can’t be determined by the means of numerals (Mills & et.al 2006). Thus it can be said that an individual’s motivation can be determined mainly by three factors namely Intensity, direction, and persistence of their endeavor towards accomplishing a goal. Intensity defines the urge and drive within a person that stimulates him or her to get motivated towards their job. Direction decides to what extent the person moves on the right track to achieve the objective of the firm that has been already set.
Persistence defines the duration for which the individual puts his/her efforts. These three factors can be explained with the help of a real life example of Kellogg’s where Claire Duckworth has been employed in the “Consumer Insight” team (The Times 100 Business Case Studies n.d.). The firm has provided her with flexible work timings and also the firm has provided her with the chance of continuing her leisure pursuit at a serious level. This has encouraged her commitment (intensity) towards her job, which further helps her to take initiative towards achieving the organizational goals by following the right path (direction) and the duration (persistence) of her association with the firm will gets continue as long as she enjoys these benefits.

Answer 3 A vital role is played by leadership in any organization. Leadership defines the direction of the team and communicates to its people, inspires, motivates and empowers them in contribution to achieve success of the organization.
For attainment of the best work from people and building commitment, leadership must apply behavioral techniques and be strategically focused. To make the business processes more ethical and socially responsible as a leader it is of utmost importance that the leader must possess Persistence, empathy for the followers and determination. The behavioral theory of leadership states that leadership can be learnt and an ideal example can be Blake and Mouton’s managerial grid. Blake and Mouton’s Managerial Grid In Blake and Mouton’s Managerial Grid diverse frameworks of behavior were clustered collectively and labeled as styles (Zeidan 2009).
The four main styles that appear are: Concern for task (Authoritarian Leader) – In this case the leaders give emphasis to the attainment of real aims. They search for elevated levels of efficiency, and means to systematize people and operations with the purpose of meeting the relevant objectives. Concern for people (Country Club Leader) – Here the leader consider his followers as human beings– their interests, needs, development, problems, and such things. Here the followers are regarded as merely means of production or the way to reach the goal.
Directive leadership (Impoverished Leader) – In this case the leaders tend to take judgment on behalf of others – and anticipating the subordinates or followers to pursue the instructions provided by the leader. Participative leadership (Team Leader). In this case the leaders attempt to allocate the decision-making authority with others. This approach is ethical and socially recognized since this framework offers the followers to learn their job while keeps a powerful position for the leader which will make his followers obey him/her.
