Abdul Qadeer Khan Abdul Qadeer Khan is famous as the father of Pakistan’s atomic bomb. He is a nuclear scientist in Pakistan and a metallurgical engineer. He has participated in various atomic bomb projects, contributed in morphology, and integrated applications such as material physics. Khan he had been the top scientist in Pakistan and dealt with scientific programmes, until 2004, when the U.S government provided evidence on his suspicious activities of selling of illegal materials (Khan, 2010).
The Court summoned Khan for debriefing but he denied the accusations. In 2009, Khan was let free and the Islamabad High Court allowed him free movement inside Pakistan. The U.S government however, states that Khan remains a serious explosion risk to people. The appropriate judicial punishment of Abdul Qadeer Khan for his actions in arranging for the illegal sales of nuclear materials; he should be arrested, detained and his career ruined for being an embarrassment to the Pakistani government and the source of illegal bombs.
According to Bernstein (2009), through the sale of illegal nuclear materials, Khan posed as a security threat. The Pakistan government should charge Khan with espionage activities and criminal charges for these activities. They should also dismantle his network to eliminate sale of illegal weapon. The Pakistani government should agree to work with U.S. government to curb the sale of illegal weapons. This would control trafficking of illegal nuclear materials and security risks to people in countries such as Iraq and North Korea.
They should also restrict his movements and he should not be allowed to meet his relatives and friend since the offence is one that affects nationals’ security.
