Extract of sample "Journal of Barriers to Communication"

Three boys are having a good time together in a park. Two of them are Asians and one is British with blonde hair. They are having a competition of jokes; one whose jokes are the funniest wins. The first Asian tells a joke, everybody laughs. The second Asian tells, everybody laughs. The Asians do not laugh at the British boy’s joke saying blondes’ jokes are as dumb as themselves. The British boy’s heartbreaks.

Case 3: Homophobic Language

An employer and an employee are in a public place. The employer is gay and the employee is not but he does not know that his boss is gay. Two males pass by, hand in hand. The employee says that they seem gay and that he hates gays. The employer doesn’t do anything apparently but eventually terminates the employee.

Conclusion

Sexist, racist and homophobic language disrupts communication. It also breaks relationships. Sexism, racism, and homophobia are among the main communication barriers.
