Effectiveness of Career and Training Development of the Emiratization Program in Emirates Islamic Bank

  • Abstract

Career development and training are among the principal challenges that impact on effective national human resource management to allow employees maximize their contribution (Randeree, 2009). Majority of the Middle Eastern Government, therefore, introduced the Emiratisation program which is a strategy that was developed to meet the workforce gap that existed between UAE national and expatriates. In addition, the program also incorporates other processes that emphasize on training and career expansion in order to allow national acquire the relevant skills and other human capital development qualities. The following paper aims to comprehensively analyze Emirates Islamic Banks’ career development and retention program, which is under the national Emiratisation project. In addition to utilizing a vast pool of secondary sources, the research also utilized primary sources from two interviews; one from Mr. Jamal Al Jassmi, General Manager of the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies and another one on Mr. Jamal Bin Ghalaita, the CEO of Emirates Islamic Bank. A number of recommendations have also been provided, which are aimed at improving the strategy even further.
