Organizational Psychology Introduction In any business, management matters a lot. Management drives the success of an enterprise. Before the start of an enterprise, the management or the shareholders should always put into mind how they want their firm management look like. The shareholders should first make the management design to be used in managing the organization. This paper is all about management and how as a manager, the workplace should look like (Schein, 1965). It cuts across management strategies, approaches, theories and management functions. The easy explains how an ideal workplace should look like in the year 2020. It is about organizational and psychological perspective in business management (Dunnette & Hough, 1991). Business psychology is a scientific and critical study of how human behave in their work place (Bass, 1979). It is the application of psychological theorem and rules and principles governing organizational management. It aims at improving the success, performance, safety, and well-being and creates a good relationship between the seniors and thieves juniors in the organization (Bass, & Ryterband, 1979). Workplace democracy Workplace democracy is one of the organization psychological aspects that the organization will implement. Democracy in an organization means giving the workers their full freedom to choose their way (Welford & Gouldson, 1993). However, workplace democracy does not mean that employees and the management team will not be supervised and guided in any way (Gouldson, 1993). However, supervision should encourage the workers to be self-motivated and not always be supervised by their seniors ((Welford, 2001). Benefits of Workplace Democracy To add to the democracy, some of the benefits that the organization will draw from giving the employees freedom are: The first benefit is that the organization will be in a position to avoid future economic crises. This is accrued from the fact that the organization will be easy to achieve its objectives and goals. Secondly, the organization will be in a position to fairly distribute its resources without bringing any issue of inequality. Thirdly, democracy in a business workplace brings the issue of burnout. Burnout in an organization means being mentally weariness. Eventually, the organization will benefit as the employees will work ethically thus easing the work of the management in their efforts to make the organization perform ethically. The organization will also benefit from organization democracy as it will change its demographic choice. As many people will be willing to work in the workplace, the workplace will always be attracting many people hence increasing human resource diversity. Disadvantages and How to Work On the Disadvantages However, no matter how beneficial is democracy in an organization; the workplace may lack a control. The organization owners and shareholders should employ some control on the employee to avoid any unethical issue in the organization accruing from the freedom given to the employees. The employee may also misuse what is democracy and start working unethically. This is a result of high democracy. The workplace management should ensure there is a control measures over the works to avoid this misuse. Ethics in workplace Ethics in an organization will expose the organization to the public. It will create a positive image to the public hence will attract the public to it. Ethics will follow the world standard of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). Health, Safety and Environment initiative is a standard that holds that the organization will make sure that its employees are safe and are in good health in the premise of the organization. In addition HSE standard means that the organization will make sure that there is no harm to the environment and that the environment is clean and safe to work on. However, ethics should not be embraced or be forced by the organization management but should come into the hearts of employees (Kanfer, 1990). For the organization work in an ethical manner, the employees should be motivated to work ethically. Fairness and Gender Issue The work place would look at the gender issues. There would be no gender discrimination in the workplace. However, the management would ensure that those jobs that are legally accepted to done by men are for men only. In addition, the management would ensure that the ratio between female and workers is almost 50% for each. Wealth Distribution The workplace will ensure that the workers remuneration is ideal and accepted by the law. Minimum wage directorate should be followed to the root. However, the workers should remunerate according to their handwork in the workplace. Working Hours The workers should work in a flexible manner. The management would not be forcing any worker to work at odd hours. In addition, the workers will be allowed to work online and outside the premises as far from their residential area as they have their assignment done in the stipulated time. Theories for an Ideal Work Place The first theory is the motivational theory. Any organization faces a very big problem in human resource management. Human resource is an important pillar of the development and performance of a business. Schein (1965), in motivation theory, various theories are applied. One of the theories is self-regulatory theory. This is a motivation theory that encourages self-efficacy. My ideal work place will use theory so that it can motivate workers in setting their goals hence promoting achievement of the organization goals and objectives (Spector, 2008). Secondly, is the job-characteristic theory. This theory shows the association and relationship between job and the psychological dimensions. It means that the core work of the organization is the most important thing in the organization. It also means that the employees should always be aware of what they are supposed to do in an organization. My work place will use this theory as it provides workers with the relevant skills to work (Campbell, 1990). In addition, my organization will embrace the motivation hygiene theory. This theory states that the organization should always cater for their workers ideally. It states that job hygiene that includes payment, job status, work security, the good working condition will help the workers to work towards the achievement of the organizations set goals and objectives (Campbell, 1990). Fourthly, the theory of job based. This theory holds that the employee’s self-satisfaction in the working place is most important. In my ideal organization (Kanfer, 1990). Another theory is the social cognitive theory. This theory holds that self-belief or self-efficacy to the employee is ideal for achieving good motivation edge. The performance of self-efficacy is directly correlated to employee’s performance (Kanfer, 1990). My workplace will employ this theory so that the employee may feel that they have their full freedom to work on their self-efficacy edge. In addition, the workplace in the organization will use goal setting theory. His theory states that an ideal workplace should support the employees to work towards their goals. Furthermore, the organization will use equity theory. Equity theory holds that the results of the efforts of the employees should be correlated with their benefits. In addition, the workplace wills employee the theory of expectancy. This theory states that the employees will always work hard if they expect to draw some benefits from their efforts. It further adds the expected benefits should be correlated with equity theory (Kanfer, 1990). Lastly but not limited to, is the theory of need based theory. This theory emphasizes the motivation accrued from the workers satisfaction in the base of satisfying their needs in the workplace. The workers needs of survival aspects should be a key focus in any ideal work place (Schein, 1990). This will help the employees free their minds from anything disturbing them outside the workplace. It will improve the concentration of the employees in their core job in the workplace. Disadvantages of Such a Workplace The first disadvantage is the lack of control of the workplace environment. High democracy in the organization encourages employees feel free and they eventually misuse this freedom. Secondly, such kind of workplace may lead to illegal and unethical issues. Workers get all the freedom and they may work without care of what is happening in the legal context of the organization. However, these two disadvantages would be easily solved by proper supervision and control in the organization. In addition, this kind of a work place is so expensive. However, this would be solved by cot control measure. This means that cot management must be effective. My role In any organization, management is the key thing (Welford & Gouldson, 1993). Any organization with the proper application of management skills will see its success. However, management skills are hard to achieve. It does not need one to go to a class to be taught on management kills. Management may ooze from the managers without training. However, being a trained manager adds value to someones management skills and work. This is why, I, being trained as a business administration student, I will be able to apply my class and outside class management skills in managing my organization. My role in the organization will be management work. I will use my experience in business administration to manage my workplace properly. Managing own organization is a good thing as one is always focused on achievements of the goals and objectives of the organization. Will the organization be successful in 2020? 2020 is like the vision of many nations in the world. However, there would be a problem in human resource as explained by Mark, 2010. With this kind of organization, the workplace would be successful and work easily as there would be control over the organization. Discussion and Conclusion Human resource is the main pillars of the organization. This is why the organization should always work towards managing them (Mosher, 1968). The workplace should create an ideal environment for the workers. In addition, management is a key to the success of an organization. Management should always work toward motivational aspects of the employees. In conclusion, the ideal workplace of year 2020 uses the above discussed theories as they always motivate the workers, and they feel part and parcel of the organization. This satisfaction will lead to the success of the organization. References Bass, B. M., & Ryterband, E. C. (1979). Organizational psychology. Allyn & Bacon. Campbell, J. P. (1990).
