According to research work conducted by Cummings and Koepsell (1998), it was found out that owning or keeping a gun is associated with heightened risk of homicide. In addition, studies of individual killings point at the fact that those who keep guns at home, or rather those who purchase guns, are more likely to become homicide victims that those who do not keep guns at all.

A radical analysis of gun related killings at the workplace indicate that the law enforcement workers are most likely to be affected by homicide as compared to other professions; and the single reason for this is the proximity to the firearms that most, if not all, of these workers enjoy. Similarly, it is evident that United States has both high rate of gun ownership and high rate of homicide relative to other countries. Miller, Azrael, and Hemenway (2002) further found out that those areas within U.S. with higher rates of gun ownership experienced higher rates of homicide.

Allowing firearms at campuses and workplaces would certainly increase cases of homicides propagated with the help of guns. A gun, in its own miniature form, is a very powerful weapon that not only scares the strongest man in the battle field, but also gives confidence to the weakest person to join a battle field. Understandably, university campuses and colleges comprise of individuals from all walks of life who conglomerate in a common place. There are those who hold the belief that killing a person of a different religion is justified as long as it is done with the intention of propagating one’s faith.
