... and Theology: Jesus as Subordinate to the Father. The controversy within Christian doctrine which we now know as the Arian heresy centres on the nature of the Divine Being. In essence this branch of belief holds that the Son Jesus Christ was in some way created by God the Father, and is therefore subordinate to the Father, rather than being co-eternal with God the Father. For modern Christians the concept of the Trinity distinguishes their faith from other monotheistic religions like Judaism and Islam, and sets out a blueprint for the way that God has made Himself known to the world. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are perceived as co-eternal and equal, separate but undivided, making it...

The third argument was ‘Empirical evidence of prophecy.’ Though human beings are capable of making mistakes, God does not do so because he is God. This idea can be helpful or destructive, social or antisocial. In this view, one can relate religious issues with political responses and behavior for both criminals and victims. He states that the debate raging is a complex issue, with the superficial “argument about history of theology or church history”, while the underlying “are rival claims regarding who are heir to Christian orthodoxy” (Goldingay, 1994, p. 261).
