This appraisal has manifested a chronological growth of women in the society of profession. The text manifests this fact through the life of a protagonist Betsey. She graduates from low income occupations of type-writing to being a manager (Allen, 67). Her life reflects a journey of development in career.

It is therefore evident that women have attained empowerment in the workforce and they are no longer assigned purely reproductive roles.
