It essentially depicts a confession. The aftermath of the World Trade Centre (WTC) brought forward a scenario of disbelief and distrust amid the Muslim believers and the native citizens. There was a culture prevailing at that juncture in which people desired to find out the real reasons behind the arising circumstances that led to such devastating act. Contextually, the author tries to argue about the core belief associated with only two options for human beings. He considered that “Traditional Mortality’ and ‘Liberal Mortality’ are the two core beliefs that existed.

In the author’s view,’ Traditional Mortality’ is based upon the norm that there exists a moral order within the universe, which establishes a set standard based on right or wrong performances. Furthermore, it has revealed that major religions of the society endure a strong belief regarding the presence of moral order. In contrast to “Traditional Mortality’, the ‘Liberal Mortality’ essentially enables the person to choose accordingly ‘What mortality is?’. It is primarily about self-sufficiency, eccentricity and self-fulfillment.

It enables a person to decide upon independently to choose the right act in accordance with the prevailing situation (Lopez “The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11”). Cultural left was argued to be the prominent factor responsible for the cause of 9/11 World Trade Centre attacks. Cultural left is not referred as the Democratic Party; it primarily resembles the Republicans and the organizations that adopted the stance on the foreign policies. In the prevailing culture when the book was produced, there was strong belief that media, Hollywood, universities and the non-profit organizations were mainly responsible for the aforesaid attacks.

The leftover’ was held to be responsible for the Islamic anti-Americanism worldwide. A strong belief prevailed that the Muslims were basically against the modernism, learning and egalitarianism. Furthermore, Muslims were upset with expansionism and movements. In contradiction, the letter of Osama Bin laden revealed his views, which states “America is the fount of global atheism and it is imposing its morally depraved values on the world” (Lopez, “The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11”).

In the view of Muslims, they believe that Americans are corrupting the children’s innocence and undermining the family values. The author wanted to lay his focus on the two aspects, which are greatly affected America. Two aspects i.e. terror abroad along with cultural war within society are drastically impacting the American culture. Furthermore, it has been revealed that ‘Domestic Insurgents’ are responsible for the cultural left. I personally believes that the author through this book successfully determines the strong prevalent culture being responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

Cultural implication lays a greater impact upon the minds of people, which must be taken care of on sensitive and emotional terms (Lopez, “The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11”). CULTURAL/ HISTORICAL CONTEXT IN TIME WHEN “AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL” WAS PRODUCED “America the Beautiful” is a movie directed by ‘Darryl Roberts’
