ment of purpose After an interesting time in high school, I would wish to further my studies by joining a college. High school was as interesting as it was developmental. I attended one of the best high schools in the country and therefore acquired the most appropriate academic training and social skills. In high school, I worked hard and horned my interests in specific subjects that currently continue to influence my career decisions. I loved sciences such as biology, physics, and chemistry. Additionally, I appreciated the role of languages and therefore worked equally hard in order to improve my performances in languages. The result of my hard work in school was exhilarating. I am presenting my application to your highly reputable college as a holistic individual, one whose performance in academic is exceptional, has admirable discipline, and will, therefore, uphold the quality standards to the college. High school experience was a general phase of education in which learners ventured into an array of subjects with the view to establishing their strengths and weaknesses. I did the same thereby identifying my strengths and interests in sciences. With such a generalized training, I desire to begin developing my career by joining college. I believe college provides the desired bridge between high school and job market. College equips learners with professional training thus creating professionals who can specialize in a particular discipline. I am an adaptable individual and loves learning. I often assumed a humble position back in high school despite by brilliance in order to learn from both my peers and my teachers. I, therefore, bring my desire to learn and add value to myself at college; the two were my greatest motivations in high school. My interests in the sciences began progressively. I worked hard in all the subjects taught in school. Luckily, I had unique science teachers who understood and encouraged me. They often noted my strengths and desire to improve my performances especially in junior high school. My biology teacher would for example always appreciated me by sing me as an example of hard working students. As such, I made it a personal responsibility to improve my performance since I did not want to disappoint my teachers. Additionally, the teachers organized a number of field trips and practical exercises that made studying sciences both interesting and challenging. The learning process was progressive and more involving. I therefore worked with both my teachers and colleagues progressively improving my performance with every exam we sat. I joined high school just as any other student. I was naïve and had myriad expectations. However, once in school, I began realizing my strengths and weaknesses thus decided to concentrate on developing such. I majored in sciences and often consulted my teachers and laboratory technicians among other pertinent individuals who would help refine my interests thus influence my career choice in the future. Owing to my exceptional performance in chemistry for example, both the laboratory technician and my chemistry teacher recruited me in a unique program to serve as the laboratory technician. Such would later prove to be a lifetime opportunity since it gained me unparalleled access to the various chemicals and specimens available in a laboratory. I worked alongside the laboratory technician and advanced my interests in chemistry since we would investigate the various chemical components of elements by carrying out a number of practical tests. Besides winning the revered opportunity to work as a laboratory assistance, I also served as a library prefect. The opportunity was equally unique and revered since it gained me access to every possible literary resource I would require. I worked alongside the library attendant and often ensured that the students maintained the discipline required in such environment. Besides access to the various resources the opportunities accorded me, I loved the work since they were additional responsibilities. My teachers saw the potential in me to be a responsible leader. They thus mandated me with the various responsibilities some of which were challenging. They believed I would take my responsibilities seriously and overcome the challenges. My high school experience was, therefore, a nurturing one that helped perfect my key personalities. The four years in high school offered a unique experience of self-determination. I made friends and ended some. I interacted with people from various backgrounds. As stated earlier, I attended a cosmopolitan school, one that had students from various backgrounds. The experience therefore offered an opportunity to transcend some of the social barriers and stereotypes that exist in our society. Some of my best friends were from different races with some being immigrants while others were foreign students perusing the system of education in the country. Through my interactions with such colleagues, I managed to overcome the various challenges of interpersonal interactions. I acquired a personalized view of the society by shedding the beliefs that my parents and immediate society instilled in me. As such, I developed my own understanding of the society thus becoming a different individual. The intense interactions with fellow students and teachers among other stakeholders in high school were a perfect platform to acquire social skills. I had numerous friends. Funnily enough, most of my friends were always a grade or two ahead of me. I interacted with such individuals effectively often influencing some of their actions. I often attended group discussions of some of the friends in a grade ahead of me. The fact that I would contribute to the discussion and even teach them new concepts earned me enough respect from my peers. I, therefore, acquire appropriate interpersonal skills. I often propagated for peaceful ways of resolving interpersonal differences. In cases where the I had immense differences with my colleagues, I would always end such friendships. I apologized in cases where I wronged my friends. Conflict resolution is among the main skills I acquired in high schools thanks to my numerous friends. As explained earlier, I abhor violence. I therefore sought for alternative ways of resolving conflicts. I regulated my relationship with others. While I required friends, I never became extremely attached to such individuals. This implies that while I valued and often helped my friends, I was always willing to end friendships that did not add value to my life. I preferred to have influence to the friendships I had. The ability to influence my friends and to maintain peaceful friendships was a portrayal of my leadership skills. I believe college will help further such personalities by according me a viable space to interact with others from varied backgrounds thus expand my social circles and influence. Extracurricular activities were yet another fundamental aspect of high school learning. I took part in a number of such activities. As explained before, I was a leader and therefore took part in the organization of such activities. I took part in both outdoor and indoor sporting activities. I loved watching football and often trained with the school team but could not play the game professionally owing to my inadequate body mass. Despite such factors, I still enjoyed the game and often engaged in heated debates about the sport with my numerous friends who played for the school team. I was a charismatic individual. During official tournaments, I collaborated with teachers thus enhancing the success of my school team. I loved responsibilities. Additionally, most of the players were my friends. As such, the teachers always found a task for me to undertake. Besides my love for football, I played chess and table tennis. Chess required mental alertness and ability to strategize a play effectively. I loved such and was, therefore, a respected player. I took part in organized competitions both within the school and in external competitions. Table tennis offered a perfect recreational sport. I engaged in such activities since they provided a perfect opportunity to interact with others. I used such games to build my social circles thereby horning my social skills. Additionally, the extracurricular activities enhanced physical and mental development. I believe that the various sports helped develop my strong stature and alert mind. Taking part in sports among other extracurricular activities is a vital aspect of life in both high school and in colleges. They improve the value of a student in colleges. Colleges help develop professionals. Identifying and perfecting skills in the various skills is among the surest ways of developing a professional. Colleges have elite tournaments that offer learners perfect opportunities to develop their skills and access varied opportunities. I, therefore, seek to tap such opportunities whenever possible thus improve my value. Ever since I completed high school, I have taken part in a number of activities that helped improve my skill and interest in both the sciences and in the sports. I for example took part in a two months excursion with a crew from the National Geographic channel. I joined the team as they ventured into the Amazon forest as they went to shoot animal films. Such was an exciting experience. I worked with the team handling the cameras and carrying their laptops. I worked as an assistant photographer alongside other professional photographers. I watched and learned as the photographers set their cameras and captured some of the most breathtaking photographs of animals in their natural settings. Additionally, I took part in various social work within the society and sporting events all of which were instrumental in perfecting my skills. I worked with the local authority in rolling out major clean up exercises in some of the congested neighborhoods in the city. I also took part in organizing some street sporting events that brought together hundreds of young people from various backgrounds. The sports sought to discourage drug abuse in the country. At the end of the events, we evaluated the success of the projects and acquired a number of certificates to appreciate my involvement in the noble initiative. In retrospect, a number of factors influenced my decision to apply for a chance at your reputable college. I believe the college will offer me an opportunity to develop into a holistic professional. The college has high-quality science equipment that will enhance the learning process. Additionally, the college boasts of highly trained lecturers and various sports facilities both of which will present a perfect environment for the development of my interests in both the sciences and the sports. I am excited to join the college since it promises an exciting learning and growth opportunity. I look forward to interacting with various professors in the faculty of sciences some of whom have desirable reputations. The various professional football, chess, and table tennis tournaments are yet other major attractions that make look forward to joining the college. I am an all-inclusive student who will uphold the values and rules of the institution. I am a friendly individual with desirable social skills. I abhor violence and often prefer nonviolent ways of resolving conflicts. I, therefore, promise to safeguard the good reputation of your college. Read More
