Hence, I agree that college grades do accurately reflect the academic abilities of students, but the circumstances and the learning environment have a greater influence on the student and impact their academic performance. This means that relying solely on previous grades results will disadvantage students who have had poor previous learning opportunities. The admission authorities need to give the potential students below the cut-off point of academic records another chance to perform. Entrance test and the interviews need to help these students and give opportunity to demonstrate their readiness and/or ability to learn. The final decision should be taken on an overall evaluation of applicants merits, strengths, and weaknesses. It is important that the students should demonstrate combinations of academic preparation, aptitude, motivation, and maturity that promise success.
