Child Health and Wellbeing Resource [Lecturer] [Affiliation] Perhaps one of the most crucial things to a country is its budding population, which largely consists of young children and youth. It is estimated that 1000-2000 babies are born daily in the UK, with ¼ of those born with hearing difficulties or other physical impairments (Department for Education and Skills, 2014). Schools, on the other hand, are responsible for ensuring that these children get a wholesome education in harmony with the four key pillars of developing a healthy and a responsible person in the society.

The Healthy Schools Programme has played an important role since its initiation and continues to foster a favourable learning environment for all children irrespective of their backgrounds. According to the program, schools are encouraged to develop and apply solid approaches based on the four key pillars to healthy growth which include:Health and NutritionPhysical ExerciseEmotional Health and WellbeingDrug and Sex EducationApart from ensuring children receive decent education, this resource incorporates several extensive benefits including;Personal Development - the programme ensures that the child obtains some of the basic and relevant life skills such as communication and social interaction.

Also, the child is exposed to a whole new world of decision-making where he/she gets to choose what he/she wants consequently improving on their reasoning capabilities and confidence. The child also gets to develop his/her physical and mental health through indoor as well as outdoor activities.Community Development - children who are involved in the programme improve the general living conditions of the communities they live in and also, they spell less communal problems such as teenage pregnancies and drug abuse which are associated with growing children.
