Week 4 discussion 2 I have come to realize the assigning room jobs help children learn the importance of responsibility. In my classroom, I handle job assignment on a fair basis; whereby, I ask all students interested in being in charge of a certain classroom job to stand up and explain why he/she thinks they will handle the job better than their colleagues. I believe the verbal declaration functions to make the applicants pitching for a job accountable to their classmates. I then follow this by demonstrating how to execute each job before handing it over to the student I pick.

Moreover, I explain to the students how the duty roster works and that there will be rotation of duties after every few weeks to give every student a chance to handle each responsibility. There are various types of classroom jobs in my classroom. They include:Paper handler; one student handles this job and it entails collection of assignments and handing out of materials Librarian; two students handle this job, which entails managing the class library by arranging books on the shelves and recording borrowed booksBoard eraser; two students alternate to handle this job, which requires them to erase the board at the end of every lessonPlant caretaker; one student handles this job and it entails watering the potted plants once a dayAnimal caretaker; one student handles this job and it entails feeding and cleaning the quarters of the class pet, a hamster named “Ricco”Spill crew; about three students handle this job and it entails cleaning of small spills made by their fellow students; for example, juice or paint, in order to ensure the classroom remains neat at all timesReferenceJobs, I. f.
