t is somewhat difficult to determine the breathing pattern since there is a trio performing the song. However, they breathe together in between the bridges. They annunciate the vowels very distinguishable at the end of each phrase. The tone was very upbeat and seemed happy. Though the tempo sounded happy, the falsetto in their voices almost resonated a sadness. The lyrics are very sad and painful as if the performer is leaving his love partner. There is imagery used in the lyricism such as “Now I feel in my soul to tell you my love dies as a cinder and little by little you run out of light.” This is the use of wordplay to express how his love for his partner is fading. The singer apologizes to keep his loved one suffering and desperately loving and wishes that the lover will not cry and forget. Read More

Writing Los Angeles, Los Angeles Writers

Writer Carey Williams articulates Los Angeles, California in a number of unique ways. William’s perspective considers the nature of Los Angeles as a city of outsiders. Quoting Garet Garrett, she writes, “you have to begin with the singular fact that in a population of a million and a quarter, every other person you see has been there less than five years” (Williams). Williams characterizes Los Angeles as a sort of land of immigrants; while this had previously been the nature of the United States, it appears it has shifted to regional areas, in this instance LA. However, rather than being out outcast or newcomer in this land, Williams argues that Los Angeles retains the feeling of home for these individuals. This...

Love and Life - Who Are My Parents to Me

Back to those days when I was in elementary school, my parents were busy with work, so needed to get used to staying at home all by myself. This was so because it was legal in my home country to leave children alone at home. After my mom locked the door, I ran to the window and watched my mom leave, with my tears flowing. I felt so afraid and helpless at that time. Even now, I still remember the feeling. I did not understand why my parents were so busy every day that they had no time to accompany me. This bewilderment on my part no doubt created some emotional distance between us. Just like most te...
