The internship exposed me to situations that are theoretically discussed in lecture halls. Putting my skills to task was a major development in various fields such as; i. Marketing and external communication Working in the networking for the company helped me boost confidence and expression skills. This was enabled by a series of meeting with expert networkers who had vast knowledge. I learnt that an effective marketer must have adequate and effective communication skills that can instill persuasion impacts on the subjects. I also learnt that networking is an important aspect in survival or expansion of a firm. Effective networks composed of relevant partners ensure long lasting business relationships thereby creating a stable customers base. ii. Organizational skills As I organized meetings, I learnt that organization management and employees have tight schedules and deadlines which must be met. This improved my knowledge about scheduling through various skills and considerations such as importance, urgency and value to the company. Meetings that I scheduled were important in improving my communication and convincing skills. Being a liaison to the company also provided an opportunity to enhance my knowledge on various industries such as hospitality and how the industry depends on engineering and technological services provided by the firm. This enhanced my knowledge on the interrelationship between firms in the same and different industries. iii. The strategy is aimed at sealing the firm’s customer base against competition. The company does this through regular checks on its installations discounts and quality services. 5. Lessons learnt I learnt that coursework and practical experience have a direct relationship. However, good academic performance does not imply exceptional job performance, rather, it requires dedication and willingness to learn from new and challenging situation that call for decisions that affect many firms or individuals in an industry. Consequently, I leant of interdependence between various departments I the company and how effective managerial coordination allows smooth flow of work. 6. Relevance of coursework I relied heavily on my coursework that enabled me to complete such a demanding internship. I borrowed a lot of information in marketing, organization and technical workplace communication. Theory on good marketing skills from Ferrell & Hartline (2011) was heavily relied in this internship. I understood that there is a direct relationship between understanding theoretical aspect of the coursework and application in the real job. I also borrowed other relevant information from the coursework as need arose. 7. Summary of the internship My internship was very beneficial since it enabled me to integrate theory and practice. In essence, the opportunity posed by the internship enhanced my understanding about the job market and also the requirements for best performance at the workplace. I learnt that my career would thrive if evaluated numerous alternatives to a certain issue until an optimal strategy is found. This was the main emphasis of my work at Al-Ain. Corporate functions that I organized also served to enlighten me of the numerous possibilities and outcomes that a marketing department can expect. Dealing with customers in the most police and professional way was the greatest answer to the problems that the marketing department faced. However, it is not expected that all customers would behave the same or appreciate he offers made by the company. In conclusion, companies that offer internship opportunities to students should be applauded for the role they play in enhancing and preparing their amateur skills. I was able to advance on issue expected of me at the workplace such as responsibility and time consciousness. Al-Ain staff acted as an advisory team as part of their hospitality towards interns. Consequently, Al-Ain gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills so that I could understand my strengths and weaknesses a far as my course and profession was concerned. I would advise other firm to emulate the example set by Al-Ain. References Ferrell, O. C., & Hartline, M. D. (2011). Marketing strategy. Mason, OH: South-Western Cengage Learning. Sweitzer, H.
