What Is Augmented Reality - Essay Example

With the use of AR technology, the information that surrounds our real world becomes immersive and more interactive as it allows us to artificially manipulate the objects that animate information.

There are various applications of augmented reality in the healthcare field.  AR technology could be very helpful in diagnostic tools whereby it will enable doctors to make diagnoses in conjunction with other technologies such as MRI that will no longer require invasive procedures or surgery.

Interpretation in my own words

Augmented Reality or AR is like an immersive environment.  It is like integrating digital images and sounds into our world.  The classic example of AR’s use that would go public soon is Google Glass where digital information, including websites, will be made available in the optics of the Google Glass.

In my age group, the interesting use of Augmented Reality is through video games.  AR would allow us to be “in” or “part of a game” and not just through a computer or TV screen where we have to look into it.  In plain language, AR is like 3D on steroids.
