Teacher Give a definition of the technology called "augmented reality" The basic principle of augmented reality is to superimpose sensory enhancements such as graphics and sound on our real world environment in a real time. “Augmented Reality (AR)” basically digitally enhances our perception of the world making its content more vivid and immersive. With the use of AR technology the information that surrounds our real world becomes immersive and more interactive as it allows us to artificially manipulate the objects that animate information.2) Give one use of augmented reality in the healthcare fieldThere are various applications of augmented reality in health care field.
AR technology could be very helpful in diagnostic tools whereby it will enable doctors to make diagnosis in conjunction with other technologies such as MRI that will no longer require invasive procedures or surgery.Speaking of surgery, AR can also be used in robotic surgery. This happens when surgery is performed by means of a robotic device which is controlled by a human surgeon, which reduces time and risk of complications. Virtual reality has been also been used for training purposes and, in the field of remote telesurgery in which surgery is performed by the surgeon at a separate location to the patient (www.vrs.org.uk).AR technology can also be used in training by simulating a 3D interaction with a patient.
This can be done in surgery training or simulating an actual surgery to gauge how the medical personnel would react in a given scenario. Work Cited"Virtual Reality in Healthcare." Virtual Reality. N.p., n.d. Web. 9 May 2014. .
