This theoretical comprehensive study discusses the significant impact of Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations on the construction industry in Birmingham. This shall focus on the work at height incidents and the amended regulations that will affect or lessen accidents.
This study was conducted due to incidents of serious injury and death that happened regularly as a result of construction work. The relevant purpose of this study is to explain the good management of the construction process, that is very essential to help prevent accidents and ill health in the construction industry (HSENI,2002).
This significance of the study lies on the information drive to the public regarding the timely application of CDM to a certain project. According to HSE (www.hse.gov.uk), CDM Regulations are applied to most common building, civil engineering and engineering construction work.
This study will further evaluate how CDM Regulations affect the workers in construction industry, as well as, the citizens of Birmingham. ...

This shall be attained through these specific objectives:

Compare and contrast the incidents that happen before and after amendments were made
Consider the significance or the contribution of work-at-height regulations in lessening accidents
Analyze the existing correlation of regulations made and the reduction of work-at-height incidents
To help those involved in construction, renovation or demolition work to understand their duties under the CDM 2007Regulations.

Methodology
This study made used of the qualitative method of research, which involves inquiry appropriated with many academic disciplines. Most researchers aim to gather in-depth understanding on a particular subject and investigates the why and how of decision making, not just what, where, when (Ratcliff, 1994).
In particular the analytic induction method was used, which is a method of data analysis described by Florian Znaniecki (1934) who named the method and systematized many of the associated ideas.
Znaniecki (1934) stated that the analytic induction can be contrasted with defining and using terms in advance of research. Instead, definitions of terms are considered hypotheses that are to be tested. Inductive, rather than deductive, reasoning is involved, allowing for modification of concepts and relationships between concepts occurs throughout the process of doing research, with the goal of most accurately representing the reality of the situation.
