This paper will discuss some of the qualities of an ideal spouse. Intelligence is one of the most important qualities that one should always strive to achieve. Intelligence is always critical in all sectors of life. Without intelligence, the success can always be compromised. An intelligent person is always associated with greater possibilities of success in whatever undertakings he or she partakes. In this respect, it is critical to note that the issue of intelligence should also form part of some of the qualities necessary for a successful marriage relationship (Hendrix, 38). A marriage relationship cannot thrive well if the spouses are both unintelligent. In such situations, such marriages or relationships always fail and end up breaking. For example, in unions like marriages, there are several problems that are always associated with them. Dealing with such problems is always a hard task. This is because in case such problems occur, there is always need for neutral but effective responses to act as solutions to such. However, it is always the responsibility of the spouses to look for solutions to their own problems. This calls for intelligence. Any form of action, behavior or solution that deviates from the expected may most likely result to more conflicts, thereby piling up more problems to the union. This can make the relationship to face even more problems. In extreme cases, such relationships can even break (Hendrix, 41). This can be very bad if in any case such spouses were having children. The children can face several problems. This may involve emotional trauma, psychological stresses alongside other physical and social problems. As such, it is always important to note that an ideal spouse should always be very intelligent. This is important in ensuring the success of the union of such couples in their marriage relationships. An intelligent spouse can also lead to development within his or her family. It is of crucial significance to acknowledge the role played by the virtue of respect in all sectors of life. Strong unions always thrive best when there is respect between and among the signatories. This cuts across all sectors and relationships in the society. In relation to the above, it is critical to note that respect is one of the ideal qualities of a good spouse. A good spouse should always respect the other spouse (Hendrix, 49). This is very important for peace to prevail in such a relationship. A relationship that is not based on respect is most likely to experience several problems and domestic conflicts between the spouses themselves. This can lead to break ups. In relevance to the above, it is of crucial significance to note that an ideal spouse should always respect the opinions of the other party. In addition, such a spouse should respect the parents of the husband or the wife. Failure to respect these in-laws may most likely result to internal domestic wrangles within the marriage thereby leading to quarrels and lack of peace. Without respect in the union, several issues including unfaithfulness and lack of trust can also be experienced. These are very disastrous to the continuity and peaceful relationship that should always follow each marriage. Communication and openness is always very critical in a relationship. A good spouse should always be ready to communicate to the other party (Hendrix, 57). This should be done in an open manner. Such communication should always dispel any fear of secrecy and deception to one another. A good spouse should always be open to the other party. This is very important in ensuring that the other party trusts and becomes faithful in the union. This is very important for the success of the relationship. Communication should also focus on sharing of ideas between the two parties. This brings in the sense of togetherness and a feeling of value amongst the spouses. This is very important in strengthening the relationship. However, in cases where a spouse may fail to be open to the other, such unions may always face several problems (Hendrix, 61). In extreme situations, such may always result in breaking up of such marriages. Based on the above, it is important to note that strong relationships like marriages always depend on the nature of communication that exists between the spouses. A good spouse is expected to be respectful and obedient. In addition, a good spouse should have the virtue of openness in a relationship. The communication between these spouses should always be clear and void of any form of secrecy and hidden agendas as these are closely attributed to failure of such unions. The issue of love is always very important in a relationship. It is of crucial significance to note that no relationship can effectively thrive without love. Love is the cornerstone for success in all undertakings, unions as well as relationships. This involves marriages. In marriage, the spouses should always love each other (Hendrix, 64). This is important in strengthening the bonds of marriage thereby leading to success. Other than loving each other, an ideal spouse should love their in-laws. This should include the parents, brothers, sisters as well as relatives of either side. This is very important in ensuring the success of the union. A relationship built on love is important in enhancing the issue of trust and faithfulness. This is critical in dispelling the fear of ether spouse cheating in a relationship, hat can ultimately lead to breakage of the relationship. in reference to the spouses, it is of crucial significance to note that each spouse should always love one another unconditionally. They should love one another equally and undertake their responsibilities without blame games. This is important in strengthening the relationship. However, a spouse who does not love the other party can make the relationship to fail. This can also be worsened if such a spouse disrespects the parents, in-laws and relatives of the other spouse.
