This has reached an alarming extend worth being described primarily, as extra marital physical relationships (Pen 1). With the technological advancements, these affairs are now electronic. Arguably, there is a higher emotion attachment to a person met online as opposed to the wife (Orlando 1). On the contrary, online affairs have tend to turn out to be more serious eventually turning into physical infidelity. Social networks are another factor increasing infidelity among couples. Seemingly, these networks work to expand the pool of possible partners.

As indicated in various studies, emotional friendships that tend to turn physical are often the traditional point of entry for the affairs of female, though, as better said, it is now easy for those friendships to take root online. However, it is argued that social networks are mere expediter and cheaters will always find a way out (Orlando 1). A number of researches have been carried with the sole purpose of unearthing the mystery behind rampant cases of infidelity in the marriage institution.

According to general social survey, based at Chicago University most of the married couples end up knocking booths with their betrothed (Orlando 1). The study conducted reveals that only 15 percent and 20 percent of the married women and men respectively admitted on having cheated on their partners. However, the infidelity gap between men and women appear to be closing up. In 1991, a general social survey conducted revealed that, 10 percent and 21 percent of women and men respectively were reported to be unfaithful (Orlando 2).

Though, researchers have speculated that the actual number of men and women who cheat is higher than the reported one. According to these studies, the increased cheating among men and women is contributed by factors such as thrills, as well as un-fulfillment by the partner (Pen
