Contrary to the existing facts and realities, most individuals argue that government involvement through policies is the right approach to promoting full citizenship. Nonetheless, Irene Bloemraad’s research shows that there are other multidimensional underlying factors which if well-articulated can promote smooth transition of immigrants and also enhance their incorporation into a new country. My work highlights some of the multidimensional issues of concern as identified by Irene Bloemraad. As outlined, the promotion of immigrant citizenship depend on effortsto settlethe refugees and existing countrydiversity policies. This in a bigger picture influences immigrants’ perceived roles, positions and capability to take part in the political decision making and developmentprocess of the host nation. Furthermore, the instrumental side determines the immigrants’ attitudetowards mobilization and participation opportunities. To cap it, it is evident from her interviews thatpublic involvement of refugees and immigrants serves as main integration componentsof migrants to the economy and the society of the new state. Among other factors, the promotion of participatory citizenship of the immigrants is further enhanced through establishment and strengthening of social networks, society mobilization, and migrants’political orientation. This processfacilitates peoples contact and social relations with and between family and friends as well as the community organizations. Thus most people especially the immigrants tendto get involved in the activities of the new nation after they experience sufficient benefits. In most instances failure to give the immigrants fair access to opportunities makes them become reluctant to acquire full citizenship. Further, the numerousuncertainties of immigrants about their native countries distract their attention, hence, making them unwilling to commit to the activities of the new nation. Thus,to enhance the incorporation, such doubts should be effectively addressed. In her book, Irenealludes that the first stage of immigrant’s integration procedure is the apprehension about their country of origin.Hence, is crucial to involve the immigrants and refugees in relevant institutions and activitiesthat help them adapt to the system of the new country. In reference to the Canadian government, efficiency in incorporating immigrants is also enhanced by mixing the various cultures and concerns of the different groups of people in development planning process. This makes it imperative for the host states to establish effective mechanisms that promote public participation in addition to offering equal chances in competitiveemployment. In regards to this, all persons including the immigrants should be offeredequal chances in government jobs and ministries. However, this can be fruitless if the immigrants trust is low. Hence, all employees should be given fair job placement and offered promotion based on merit at work. So as to further increase the immigrants incorporation, states should minimize the unnecessary and bureaucraticpractices at all costs. Based on full implementation of the aforementioned concerns, it is certain that states willprovide a positive and long lasting solutions on the integration of visitors into a country. Another crucial issue of concern which in ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
