? College number: INTRODUCTION Part A When I was born, my parents only knew German as their only language. Since I was born in England, we could not speak well with other family members as they had German accent. Since I was the only one born in England, other siblings were born in Germany and had a problem in adapting the English language. Since we lived with people from different places like Italy, Pakistan and Jamaica, I knew that people could speak differently but they also had children who spoke English as I did. At first I was a bit envious since I could not speak other languages as other children spoke. Therefore, as other children spoke with their parents it was as if they were back biting me since I was not able to understand what they were talking about. Overview Most residential and commercial buildings in US today are the greatest users of energy and omit up to 38% of carbon-dioxide to the air. Different NGO’s and other organizations have devised several measures and ways of energy saving and prevention of pollution. The report aims at giving ways of saving energy and recommends the measures on how energy efficiency of the company can be improved. Background For the last few years, there has been an attempt by the several companies to improve on the efficiency of their energies. Most these companies have used unsophisticated methods of saving energy like switching of the lights, using low energy consuming bulbs and making the street lights dim during the day by using the natural light for the sake of saving energy. Organizations can save energy in various ways. This can be seen through the use of energy saving equipment like high power efficiency supplies. Another method of saving energy is to encourage employees to work from home in order to reduce or to minimize time spent in the office. Furthermore, planting grass on the roof of most of the buildings which in turn will act as insulators thus reducing heating bills. The company can also facilitate the saving of energy by contributing money to projects that offset the effects of carbon-dioxide by planting trees. New containers take a lot of energy to make and package. In order to reduce energy in doing such, it is particularly beneficial to save energy by recycling and re-using them. One of the best ways of saving energy is to switch off electrical equipment and machines like computers, monitors, printers when they are not being used especially on weekends and overnight. By doing this, a lot of money can be saved which could rather be used to do spent on energy. Recommendations Creating incentives that motivates the employees to reside close to place of work. There should be a plan that encourages employees to carpool to work places All those employees who use public transport to their places of should be rewarded. Switch off all the lights in the building at the end of the day to save energy. Taking control measures by installing automatic lighting systems that control the lightings by turning the on or off depending on the time. Ensuring that lenses, bulbs, lamps, fixtures, and reflective surfaces are regularly polished and cleaned. UNIT 5 Market Leader From: Management Team To: all Members of Staff Subject: Absenteeism Hello to all This is to get to your notice that it come to our notice that rate of absenteeism has gradually increased for the past few months. This has led the company to restructure its working policies in order to curb up with this. First and foremost, the management team has decided to employ new medical officers who are looking into minor ailments that way lay employees from their daily chore as the company new policy. With the increased technological knowledge, the company has also purchased machines and equipment to be used for call recording and keep close monitoring of the esteem clients’ calls so as to respond to their needs immediately. In connection to the performance of the staff, the management team has also reviewed its objectives and targets which had previously been set. The staff therefore has the obligation of putting in extra effort upon their normal rates. This is achieved by performance contracting. The company has also come up with new e-mail rates which are favorable to all staff members and regulations on using it. The attrition rates usually instilled on the company’s staff have been substantially reduced by slashing the interest rates charged for all financial transactions in favor of all employees. Finally, with the rumors of the possibility of our core customer shifting its services from our company, we have decided to provide after sale services and provide discounts on all transactions to retain them. We hope this will keep our services above all our other competitors. From Management Team UNIT 6 Business Ethics These are professional ethics that guides ethics and morals issues that come as a result of doing business. These ethics are also in charge of how individuals and the whole organizations conduct themselves. The business ethics have descriptive and normative dimensions. Business as a career specialization and practice of corporate norms is therefore referred to as normative. The experts who try to analyze and understand the behaviors of the business use descriptive methods. However, these business ethics are dated back to 80s and 90s. In the current business world, businesses practice corporate business responsibility as a way of enhancing business ethics. It is the duty of ethically responsible business to act responsibly as a good citizen in where they operate at the expense of their profits. Ethical issues include duties between a business enterprise and its employees, customers and suppliers and neighbors. Business people view business ethics considering three things i.e. they try to evade breaking the law in their day to day activities, avoid activities that violate the law and avoid chore that bring poor reputation to the company. Most of the business enterprises are concerned about the mentioned things as they bring unwelcome reputation to the business and also bring losses In my view, am for the idea that businesses should practice business ethics like fairness, good trading practices, courtesy and also practicing corporate business responsibility. Most companies have a duty to employ a sense of social responsibility and not necessarily aim at maximizing profits. Better a good name of the company than what the company gets by its operations. Good company name encourages potential customers to invest and work in the company. In this essence, the company will increase its sales volume and expand its. Ethical issues will arise automatically and in such operations. Business will get a good reputation and in attracting many customers, profits will increase. However, at times the company or business may be in a dilemma on its operations due to challenges that faces. It may get stuck in awkward positions that profits seem to be a priority rather than its social responsibility, because it is unable to progress in its operations. In such situations, the company should restructure its operations so as to remain competitive and at the same time maximize on the available opportunities. The business should further employ ethical business skills so as to solve problems that may arise. This involves taking corrective measures to approach issues affecting the business by discussing with other employees, approaching consultants and making sound decisions. UNIT 8: New market opportunities Official e-mail From: Director To: Staff Subject: Opportunities in New Markets In any enterprise the most notable thing is finding and exploiting new markets. Businessmen may think that opportunities are only sought for when the business is declining which is not the case. It is therefore the life-blood for any enterprise globally to seek for new opportunities. Entrepreneurs should therefore understand that opportunities in new markets are attached to risks though benefits them in the long run. When looking for new markets opportunities, several factors has to be put into account such as entry into new geographical regions and demographic segments. Offering of alternatives services and also coming up with ways that check on the quality of documents. In any given market new opportunities are identified. Opportunities may vary in size but will strike a positive impact into the enterprise. As a matter of fact, new markets seem to have numerous opportunities which include reduction in international tariffs which has seen most enterprises penetrates new markets in foreign countries unlike separated markets where tariffs are higher. Secondly, government regulations in that emerging new market have favor from government regulations. In this case therefore exploring new opportunities has been the only remedy to most of the businesses in today’s competitive world. Our company has to devise a way of exploiting available opportunities. With regard Managing Director UNIT 10 Background of the study Social media has been one sites that most companies has invested where different e.g. Director of Social Media, Communication Director and vice president. These newly created opportunities represent a significant mobility in social media relations as seen in large companies. Communication in the corporate world has changed from focusing on talking to customers also to the press. There has been another group of people who falls neither as customers nor are press and their voices too loud to be ignored. Experts say that the employee should be conversant on what is said online, and how communication is being done, has profoundly changed therefore it is the duty of everyone to be on the social media. Problem of the study There is a reluctance to social media by several companies. Most companies are extremely slow to catch up because they are not cock sure if they can generate money from the media as the experts say. Despite the fact that most business run away from the social media, companies like Dell has made its own profits by it. Furthermore, other companies have taken advantage of Twitter to solve issues that arise before they occur and create more controversial. Proposals Adding images of products into the website adds attractiveness therefore attracts more customers. Web metric analysis should be done in order to count the number of visitors who are visiting the company web. Social shopping by use of bargaining shopping since it is cost effective compared to traditional marketing. Maintain your website regularly since this can attract more customers by providing attractive and optimistic on-line experience. UNIT 11 Market leader From: H.O.D To: All Staff Subject: Growth Strategy Basing on the need to expand the business, the committee came up with the following strategies to employ. Market penetration: This which involves selling more of existing products to the existing customers, strategy employed by large scale companies. Another strategy is the market development which involves selling the existing products to the neighboring customers in another town or country. Use of alternative channels enhances healthy growth strategy. This is done by using alternative channels, for example, using the internet to market the company’s products or using online market survey and marketing by advertisement. Potential customers can access products everywhere in the world. If one has an alternative, he/she would like to transact with the customers because he/she has a range to choose and convince them. For this reason, dealing with your customers will be less risky than just having only one product to market. Another basic strategy is by product development which a classic strategy involving the development of new goods and products, and selling them to the current customers, as well as the new ones. The customers are will then enjoy a wide variety of goods to choose from thus increasing the overall sales of the business and in turn increasing the profit margin. Business segmentation enhances the growth of the business. This is by picking a small set of the entire market that can be capitalized, organize your efforts and take full control of the sale tactics. The subset market is equipped with all the necessary products so that maximum profits can be extracted. This strategy requires careful planning and survey to yield good fruits and steady growth.
