Psychology Review Article Of Peer Review Article on Child Development Evaluate the Literature and Demonstrate This article is about the Bipolar Disorder in children and adolescents. There are two types of Bipolar Disorder. One type is called Bipolar I and the other one is called Bipolar II. Bipolar I is a mental illness. Bipolar I is also known as Manic Disorder or Manic Depression. A person affected by Bipolar I has had a manic episode at least once in his or her life. A manic episode means disruption in life due to abnormally elevated mood, abnormal behavior and high energy.
This article discusses the drastic growth rate of Bipolar Disorder in the US over the last ten years (1997-2006). This increase in Bipolar Disorder is prevalent in the children. Important statistics have been presented in this article in the start to realize the need to focus on the rising Bipolar Disorder in children. The author suggests that Psychology can play an active role to solve Bipolar Disorder issue. This research study is very important and highlights the need to take immediate action to stop the Bipolar Disorder in children by using the Psychological science methods.
Research Question and Research Findings: This research raises some serious questions about the increasing problem of Bipolar Disorder in children in US over the last decade. The questions raised are valid and the author went on to answer these questions in the later part of the article. The author has answered research questions. The research findings of the study suggest that these strong need to apply Psychological methods to solve the rapidly growing problem of Bipolar Disorder in children.
The concern of author is valid that Bipolar Disorder is not just a subject to be dealt by Clinical Psychology. The author suggests that other branches of psychology have a lot more to offer to understand, assess and treat the Bipolar Disorder.Critical Analysis: This study is not a detailed study; nevertheless it has tried to touch all dimension of Bipolar Disorder. Internal validity, demand characteristics, external validity, and the selection of subject population are good. It is based on a sound literature review.

Moreover this study has tried to touch all dimensions of the Bipolar Disorder but did not provide a detailed study on some specific issues. This study is generic in nature. Dilemma: This study has highlighted the problem in a good manner. Later the author tried well to make the readers realize the need to use psychological methods to understand and solve the Bipolar Disorder. By dilemma of the study is that it does not highlight a specific psychological approach in detail to resolve the issue of Bipolar Disorder.
