Factors Influencing Psychological Practice 11th December After reading the article concerning the socio-political and economic factors that influence the practice and delivery of psychological practices, it is quite clear that psychiatrists should be well aware of these factors because of the magnitude of the impact that they have on this field. I concur with the author that in order to counter these socio-political and economic factors, and to accurately deliver on psychological practice, the practitioner should have a vast knowledge in managing managed care and be able to build the business outside these constraints (Stout & Grand, 2005).

The author’s thesis that states that managed care and the ethical considerations accompanied with such demands have a detrimental effect on psychological service delivery is correct. I also agree with the author that both the managed care and ethical considerations negatively impact the quality of psychological service delivery (Wright, 2000). On the other hand, I feel like the author over simplified the implications of managed care and ethical considerations of psychological service delivery and also fails to highlight other factors that affect this field.

Not only is author correct, but I believe that the psychiatrist should possess even more qualities to develop the success. The area of psychological practice should employ information technology that will aid the practitioner to improve on competence in his or her area of specialization and always stay updated with the current trends (Beckwith, 1997). I believe that the author shows the direction that psychiatrists should take in order to capitalize on the socio-political and economic factors.

A psychiatrist will adequately tackle the economic factors by having knowledge of fee payments and contractual agreements. Practitioners should also utilize services approved by MCOs, practice within the area of specialization, maintain proper ethical standards and continue learning (apa.org, 2014).Referencesapa.org,.
