The book narrates flows and ebbs of the author’s friendship with Bundy at this turbulent period. There are different aspects that made me like the book. For instance, I like how the author has mentioned and covered Bundy childhood. Bundy’s childhood life was in Tacoma with his mother. It is evident that his childhood played a crucial role in becoming a psychopath. In the book, Rule describes Bundy’s childhood in details. Bundy father was called Theodore Robert Cowell, while his mother was Eleanor Cowell.

This is also a major factor that could have contributed to his psycho-pathetic ways. This was a major contributor to his problem. Many people reported that even a child, Bundy liked to torture animals and watching pornography. His female relatives admitted that he was a weird kid. At last Eleanor reclaimed her relationship with his son and moved to Tacoma with their cousins. According to Rule (2008), Bundy was not an overachiever but all in all he managed to become successful by being likable and charming. However, he was said to roam about in his neighborhood at night and deemed a peeping tom. When he was young, he managed to have a girlfriend who was socially acceptable but broke up with him later because he lacked ambition. This is another aspect that could have triggered his serial killing tendencies. This kind of rejection is a major contributor to an individual becoming a psychopath. Rule met the charming colleague
